Product Review: Fender Telecaster Replica

Over a month ago, I reviewed the Fender Stratocaster replica. At the time, a commenter expressed interest in a Telecaster version. For those of you similarly interested in one, the fine folks at GMP Diecast also offer an officially licensed, limited edition Fender Telecaster model.

Much like its younger sibling the Stratocaster, the Fender Telecaster has left a significant footprint in modern music history. According to Wikipedia, the Telecaster was originally developed during the 1940s in California by Leo Fender. While musicians have been wiring various stringed instruments since the 1920s to increase volume and projection, tone wasn't enough of a reason for a guitarist to make the jump from acoustic to electric. This switch was made easier with the creation of the Telecaster, designed for ease of use and mass production. The Telecaster quickly caught on with the music industry, especially with country western musicians. And while these days some may argue that the Stratocaster is more well-known, no one can doubt the Telecaster's significant role in the evolution of various genres of music such as country, blues, and rock and roll.

Similar to the Stratocaster replica, the Telecaster is a high-quality model that will please any music fan. As before, when I removed it from the box, I marveled at its hefty weight and the accuracy of even the tiniest details. The neck is made of real wood while the tiny strings are steel. The pick up selection switch, and the volume and tone knobs aren't just glued on, immovable pieces. But most importantly, the Telecaster is a beautiful model. Like the real thing, the Telecaster replica has delicate curves that feel nice in your hands. The paint is so glossy and smooth that I was almost hesitant to touch it for fear of fingerprints.

A miniature stand is available so you can display your tiny treasure, but you can also mount it on your wall if you wish. More serious collectors who have this guitar in all available colors (red, butterscotch blonde, and starburst) can purchase a Fender Guitar display at the GMP Diecast website.

The Fender Telecaster replica makes a terrific present for the music fan in your life.
