Product Preview: Fender Stratocaster Replica

In the music industry, the Fender Stratocaster electric guitar has long been associated with quality, excellence, and just plain coolness. The very first Stratocaster came out in early 1954 and its unique design, versatility, and innovative mechanisms quickly made it a favorite among musicians. Buddy Holly was one of the first artists to use one, and in fact his grave and Walk-of-Fame statue feature a Stratocaster. Over the decades, this has been the guitar of choice by countless guitar legends such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Stratocaster detailedNow aspiring guitar gods, and music enthusiasts who don't play guitar but have always wanted one, can have a Stratocaster of their own. GMP Diecast offers an officially licensed, limited edition Fender Stratocaster replica. At 1:3 scale, this die-cast model of the famous guitar is beautiful, well-made, and remarkably detailed and accurate. Currently the Fender Stratocaster replica comes in three colors: red, black, and the classic sunburst, as seen in the photo. Incidentally, GMP also offers replicas of the Fender Telecaster, predecessor to the Stratocaster.

When I took it out of the box, the first thing I noticed is the weight. The guitar's diecast metal body felt nice and solid in my hands. As small as it is (its dimensions are 12 x 4 x 3/4 inches), this guitar is no flimsy toy. The second thing I noticed is its beauty. Just like the real thing, the Stratocaster replica is sleek, glossy, and gorgeous. It'll look awesome sitting on your desk on its stand (included) or hanging on your wall. The third thing I noticed is the detail. GMP spared no expenses in replicating the classic guitar. Everything that can be found on a real Stratocaster is found on this replica, from the famous logo on the headstock to the tremolo bar.

A nice collectable, but I'll wait for the Telecaster model. Or, depending on the price, maybe I'll just go out and buy another Tele.
