Pixies Live

I listened to two Pixies bootlegs from their re-union tour this week, and was reminded that what the band did best was play for their fans.

The Pixies never had huge record sales (The Breeders were the only 4.A.D. act to sell gold), but they had a great chemistry as a band which was lacking from the solo records by Kim Deal and Frank Black.

The first two shows of this tour in Minneapolis and Winnipeg have a completely different set-list, but both shows highlight how in the moment The Pixies are as a live act. The songs are both familiar and brand new at the same time — you are just able to immerse yourself in the moment and just rock it.

Yes, that man walking down the street playing air guitar was probably me. Elevate me.
