Steven Malkmus - Pig Lib

This is one of those records which should be an immediate fave, but I'm finding it is more like fast food, instant gratification, but no long term satisfactation.

Malkmus, the former leader of Pavement, had a really great self-titled debut, and one song with an amazing "Hook". But on this record, it sounds like a garage band trying to do prog rock. Which is probably the point. While it may have been great for the band, for the listener, it is a fleeting and not very engaging experience.

Maybe it will grow on me, like foot fungus.

Jim, I had a lot of the same struggling. Especially since i really liked (Self titled) so much right off the bat. The bonus cd got heavier rotation in my ipod recently and all of a sudden that really grabbed me. It is a bit more progrocky but there are some jems. I have been fighting to review it as well, It seems to go in so many directions.
