This debates are always get people so riled up, I'm not sure I really wanna participate. I mean, if you have a CD that makes you happy, go on & listen to it. Just because I think Toto sucks doesn't mean I want to convert all Toto fans.

That said, I will never understand why Workingman's Dead and American Beauty are supposed to be so great.

Also, I will vigorously defend the classic albums of the Beatles (Rubber Soul thru Sgt Pepper), Bob Dylan (Bringing It All Back Home thru Blonde on Blonde) and the Rolling Stones (Beggars Banquet thru Exile on Main St).

Crookedspine, good call -- And you reminded me that I meant to include the Grateful Dud on my ealier list of EVERYTHING BY...

PS: Rodney, Dawn, et al. -- yeah, okay, Blonde on Blonde. Okay. So I'm feeling nice right now, and I'll give Bobby Zimmerman a pass thru the entire 60s. Still... finding Jesus and Christianity? Oy. That took him off the Artistic Role Call forever.

PPS: regardless of what one thinks of that album, Frampton is/was a helluva good guitar player.

I think without doubt you should have asked for the Thin Lizzy Jailbreak album! And then followed it up with Live and Dangerous! Now that is rock music to drink you beer to!

The Boys are Back in Town - Jailbreak - Cowboy Song - Emerald! I mean priceless every one and no Wha Wha here just good tight twin lead guitar a great bass line and some superb drums!

What more would/could a 14 year old ask for!

Frampton is, in fact, an underrated guitarist, and his band is good, too. He's underrated as a musician because people would rather focus their attention on how overrated the album is. Give the guy a break. I'm glad he sold about 14 million copies of the thing. It's not overrated. People just like it. It makes them happy.

As mentioned above, Frampton played some great guitar with Humble Pie, before he became "cute." Back then, he had a style like no one else -- king of the Mixolydian and Dorian modes, when everyone else was playing along on the pentatonic, with the exception of Duane and Dicky, that is. Does that matter? Nah, that's just music.

And, it's not a "wah wah," it's something completely different, called a talk box. It's the same thing that Joe Walsh plays on Rocky Mountain Way.

Shark -- Even if you're a Christian, as I am, Dylan's so-called "born again period" is a tough sell. Most of it was naive and corny and just weird. On the plus side, there were at least three good-to-great songs that came out of it: "Gotta Serve Somebody," "Every Grain of Sand" and "Groom's Still Waiting at the Altar."

I believe that Frampton Comes Alive was the inspiration for Thin Lizzy to record a live album (Live and Dangerous). Phil Lynott heard FCA and thought "What would Frampton know about a good live show" so he decided that his band (Lizzy) would/should record one as they were the best live band in circulation at the time (and probably haven't yet been topped). Anyway, As over-rated as Frampton Comes Alive is, If it didn't exist, Thin Lizzy may never have recorded the GREATEST live album ever!!! Big up to Peter for his dull attempt at a live album!

Ok I pushed My Lizzy on post #30...I'll take a step back now being an owner of FCA...The 3 hit's are overated...My favorites on the Lp are "Lines on my face""I wanna go to the sun"and "Winds of change" Those songs balance the album and make it a legitimate big seller that it was...AND compared to Framptons studio lps????Well,,,ever hear anything besides "I'm in you"(the single)??? didn't think so...Me either..FCA?? Better than FM-Rumors!! or Eagles!!.

FCA is something (people/talking heads) say when they Know shite..."Yeah man,Rush-2112","Nixon just got caught","Checks in the Mail"
    "I won't.....c....ontinue!!! LOL!!!

"Back In Black" by AC/DC. AC/DC's my most favorite band in the whole world, and I like the album's material, but people know AC/DC just for that album. I hate it when people overrate an album I like, that pisses me SO MUCH!!! My favorite AC/DC albums are "If You Want Blood...", "High Voltage (US 1976)", and "Highway to Hell". I absolutely hate it when foot ball players use AC/DC at football games. DIPSHITS!!!
