Oops, I Did It Again! Britney Spears' Meltdown at MTV Awards! - Page 2

Unlike Britney of old, she appeared nervous and noticeably ill at ease at the most recent VMAs. Given the audience, her skimpy outfit was inappropriate especially due to her added weight. In place of the taut belly, she had a paunch and you could see her flabby booty cheeks under her hot pants. To add to these woes, her lip synching was completely off.

At times during the performance, it appeared that she just stopped singing altogether, as if she knew the performance and the comeback were failures. Britney's performance was designed to drum up excitement for her upcoming album. Instead, her performance became another example of how far she has fallen.

So where does Britney go from here? Well, the good thing is that she is well off with a reported bankroll of $300 million, so she likely does not have to perform to pay the bills. First, she should take some time off to get herself together. Hire a good publicist, a physical conditioning coach, and work on improving herself as she raises her kids. I do not believe that this will happen, as the public does not have pity for rich celebrities. But I hope the public lightens up on Britney.

Britney looked hot. She doesnt have to be a twig to wear what she wore. She looks like a woman and it is sick that you says these things about her body. This is why young girls get eating disorders.

That routine could have been so hot! She looked great. I thought. But she did not put any effort into her moves. Maybe it was the stilleto boots- afraid of falling, now that would have been something to talk about. Other than that, it looked like she had stage-fright, or just didn't want to be there, which is too bad. Perhaps the song should have been called "Don't give me more."
With all sincerity, sorry Britney, you blew it.

Britney should go from brain-dead pop fool, to being a pole dancer at some loser club in Vegas. It's all over, but she could attempt to dance and lip-sync for drinks.

That figure reminds me of a swayback horse.

As far as the "public not having pitty for rich celebrities" you should count yourself in the group. Granted you said what most of us felt. The majority of your article was on her rough ride through the past two years not about the not so stellar comeback at the VMA's. I'm sure she is aware of her blunder last evening. So in the end I think you should change the title of your article to The things the world already knew...

How about the public stops paying attention to her altogether and focuses on someone with talent?

Excellent article! But I don't think her performance was much worse than a lot of other performances I saw last night. The VMAs used to be so cool and hip. Now, what a joke!

Britney has a NORMAL body for her age, and after having two children. Not thin, just normal.

Everything else sucks in her, but it's very, VERY, shitty to say that she is out of shape. She is not. Forget what the stupid pop culture requires.

Amen Eugenia! Britney can be called a lot of things but she ain't fat. She has a healthy body fat/muscle ratio for her age. I frankly think she looked pretty good and better than I expected. Oh for the days when starlets starved BEFORE they became famous.

Judging Britney's performance on the VMA and her "comeback" or lack thereof on the basis of her weight is a perfect example of how American priorities are completely f!@#ed up. Get real people. Even if she had put on weight and even if she was above her BMI, my God, why does this matter so much? She looks perfectly healthy even if she has a few extra pounds compared to pre-pregnancy Britney. We aren't talking about morbid obesity or something...her weight shouldn't (nor should anyone's) be given such importance unless it is a medical condition (and that's really not our business either folks). Weight is a NUMBER people. It doesn't define who a person is...or define a performance. Oh wait, is Britney different? Is that what her fans and society REALLY want? Not a good performance of a song but a thin blonde babe shaking a bit better? Well, that's just shallow. It is so shallow it makes me want to vomit. The shame is on all of YOU America and not Britney POSSIBLY carrying a FEW extra pounds. If Britney gets any blame, it is for feeding you vampires what you wanted back in the day. I could reference my weight and height and stats here but the fact is, this has nothing to do with who I am as a person and my opinion...why would my dress size support my opinion? It doesn't. But maybe I am different in that I don't give a crap about everyone's lengthly personalization of their weight and how it relates to Britney and her current drama. I mean, spare me - it means as little as Britney's weight. America, get a f!@#'g life.

I actually think Britney's performance was totally cool, laid back and really great. She's had two kids and came out looking amazing, and more womanly. i think it was definitely a cool move on her part (consciously or not) that she perform slow, off beat and not as 'hitting' as she has been in the past. everyone continues to talk about it - and she seemed relaxed and different - just not what the public is used to - but totally cool for someone who is saying - "you know what, i don't care, i'm me"
