Oasis' Noel Gallagher Plotting Solo Album?

This is almost too much to hope for.  Noel Gallagher may finally make the solo album he's at different times threatened and avoided making.

Gallagher told Blender he would like the four principle members of the band (himself, brother Liam, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell) to work on individual projects after the release and tour for upcoming album Dig Out Your Soul.

"I'd like for us to do separate projects after this record," he said.  "We'd all have to agree on it, so it will probably never happen."

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.  Thanks for the tease, Noel.

"I've got loads of new songs," Gallagher continued.  "Somewhat predictably, they're all brilliant."

God bless that man!  That's the Noel Gallagher I've come to know and love.  I'm sure they are.

The NME story says this latest talk of a solo record comes on the heels of comments he made last year about collecting songs for a solo record and that he was considering some solo acoustic gigs.

I know I'm not alone among Oasis fans who have sequenced mix tapes and playlists of Gallagher-sung songs to create our own unofficial solo albums.  In fact, I should really post a couple of those playlists up here.  Still, it would be fantastic to have a real solo album from one of my favorite songwriters.

In related news, I broke down and ordered the big, bloated, super-deluxe box set edition of Dig Out Your Soul.  I believe it's shipping to arrive on or about Oct. 7, when the album arrives in stores.  As part of the box order, I will get a free download of the album to tide me over while I wait.
