I skimmed this list repeatedly hoping to find something exciting and my efforts were largely in vain. There are a couple titles we're going to discuss but the release that's been most exciting to me can't be found here.
The National won't release High Violet until May 11 but the first single "Bloodbuzz Ohio" is available as a free download for a limited time. If you want to pay $1 or miss out on the free — and as of today it is still up there — the single is also available right now at iTunes. The National headlined the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville this past weekend and they were brilliant. Their 20-song set included all 11 songs from High Violet. This record is going to be one of the best of 2010.
So after you get your free download, what might you want to find at your late night record shop? Sorry, kids, there are no more late night record shops. Barenaked Ladies have a new record but they don't have Steven Page anymore. After 20 years together, the co-frontman has parted ways with BNL to pursue a solo career. Ed Robertson and the rest of the Ladies are carrying on and this week release their first record as a quartet All In Good Time.
We've also got new records from Alan Jackson and Gretchen Wilson for country fans, a new CD from Amy Grant, and I don't care but I rather imagine you're all going to be hearing a lot from Usher's 'comeback' album Raymond V. Raymond. Check out your new releases and don't forget to download that new single from The National!

Where's Erykah Badu?

Catherine Wheel's expanded edition of their first album, Ferment, is also out this week, somehow managing to miss every published list I've seen. Not sure how they expect anyone to know that's out.

Like Glen said, Erykah Badu's latest is missing from the list along with the most notable hip-hop release of the week, Wu-Massacre (a collaborative album featuring Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Method Man).
