New album releases, week of 9-6-2005

Part of: New CDs

The Rolling Stones have A Bigger Bang out this week, their first new album in eight years. It's #1 at Amazon naturally, and getting nearly totally good reviews. Yet after their last 20 years of albums, one may be forgiven for being a Doubting Thomas.

More interesting, The Funk Anthology of Johnny "Guitar" Watson, giving two CDs of highly influential 70s funky stuff.

The North Missisippi Allstar's new Electric Blue Watermelon might be worth a spin for some high-art folk blues.

I can almost vouch for the new Stones' album. I have listened to it once through completely. I want to spin it a few more times before I review it and grade it but I did enjoy the first run.

i'm currently listening to the new Stones record as well.

early reviews are saying it's right up there with Exile On Main St. and Some Girls.

they're not too far off the mark.
