I highly, HIGHLY recommend the Winter & Winter reissue of Joey Baron's Tongue In Groove for adventurous listeners. I've got the original, but this reissue might be remastered or something cool like that. You can check out my review here.
Also of interest to jazz fans is Medeski, Martin, & Wood's End Of The World Party (Just In Case), which was released today but doesn't appear on your list.
Overall, however, a pretty lame new-music week . . .

i'll second the Joey Baron vote. it's about time they reissued that thing. it's a load of fun.
the new Medeski, Martin and Wood is quite good also. they've got one of the dust brothers producing.

agree that this is a fairly poor week stateside. Over in the United UK we got Dizee Rascals new album yesterday, which is a grower, but worth sticking with. Of this list here, there aint much beyond a couple anthologys and so on. (buzzcocks, loretta lynn and merle haggard being The Duke's faves from the list.)

Gotta reiterate Mark's approval of the MMW - I just picked this up this afternoon on a whim, having gotten a bit tired of their jam-jazz, but was feeling a little adventurous today. Damn, is this a reinvention or what? Great album, great fun - they've finally done something truly new sounding. It comes highly recommended from me, the jaded old-timer MMW fan.
