The idea of how much Toby Keith cheeses off the pinkos entertains me more than his actual music. Word is that his new Honkytonk University album tones down the fun reactionary political stuff. Ah, well.
System of a Down has a new album out, Mezmerize, if you're into this sort of stuff. As it is already #12 at Amazon, apparently a lot of people are.
Van Morrison's story became tiresome about a quarter century ago, but he keeps making albums. Moreover, they make such tastefully polite dinner music for boring yuppies that these crappy latter day releases seem to do better than his real albums, such as St Dominic's Preview. Anyway, he's got a new one this week, Magic Time, and the Amazon reviewer gushes over it. And hey, he made Moondance, so maybe he'll be worth a listen.
There's a big honkin' label box set what looks interesting this week, Cameo Parkway 1957-1967. This includes some 115 tracks from Chubby Checker to early Bob Seger and the Kinks. Also, ? & the Mysterians, and Clint Eastwood!
I suppose I would be remiss not to mention the release of American Idol Season 4.
