There are actually a couple of promising sounding new albums this week. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank with a first song called "March Into the Sea" promises to be as eagerly morbid as the album it follows, Good News for People Who Love Bad News - certainly one of the half dozen best albums of 2004. Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has joined the group, if that whets your appetite for the catchy morose.
Last of the Breed is a 22 song, two disc trio album from Willie Nelson, Ray Price and ever lovin' Merle Haggard. Besides legendary talent, this sounds like an interesting combination of vocal styles. Merle's more the gutsy blues singer, with Ray Price a classic crooner, and Willie's contributing a more jazz influenced vocal style.
