Al,I'm curious as to just how these CD's
qualify as "New" releases. I'm the proud
owner of that "Sam & The Soul Machine"
disc (it's funky as Hell,think Booker T.
& The MG's meet The Meters but a little
jazzier),Chuck Simmons "Hustlers Strut"
and several volumes of the "Funky,Funky
New Orleans" series(Vols 1,2,2A)as well
as "Eddie Bo's-Funky,Funky New Orleans".
The thing is,I've had most of these CD's
about 2 years now.And some I've even had
for longer. So again, I'm just wondering
who classifies these as "New".
I'd definitely recommend them all for
any serious Soul/Funk/R&B fanatics out
there in blogland reading this.
Packaging is top notch.Informative liner
notes,excellent sound quality,alt.takes,
unreleased tunes and plenty of obscure
45 only releases known mainly to avid
collectors; 45's that would set you back
a couple hundred bucks apiece if you're
ever lucky enough to even find them in
the first place.

HW, is it really that hard to figure out? They're reissues, the industry's favorite new trend. Labels reissue albums that came out 6 months ago - they'll add a new song, or maybe a "watch it one time" DVD, or maybe they've encountered the "definitive" original master copy of the album (until another is found - and one will be,) up the price by a few bucks, and watch us die-hards scoop 'em up.

That seems like it would be the case but
it isn't Tom.These are exact same issues
that came out before.Which were reissues
in the first place.Nothing at all is any
different with these releases which is
what makes it seem odd. Nothing added &
nothing lost. Any die hard fans and/or
collectors already have this shit.
I'm well acquainted with the re issue
scene. Some friends & I bootlegged and
pressed several runs of some obscure R&B
and Funk 45's in the mid 90's. Only to
get our asses blown out of the water
when master tape versions of a couple of
the tracks were found.(We mastered ours
off of mint copies of the 45's)We could
not even compete with the improvement in
sound & ended up losing a good amount of
$$$ in the process.

Indie hip hop rap rnb labels and artists now have a new digital distribution network to submit music free 3-songs or up to 24-songs. Rap4abuck is the indie alternative to iTunes except that only these niche markets are able to submit music.
