New Album Releases, 11-14-2006: Yusuf Islam, Tenacious D, The Game

Part of: New CDs

Steven Demetre Georgiou alias Cat Stevens alias Yusuf Islam has a new album, decades after turning away from music for religion. An Other Cup contains a cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." In fairness, he hasn't publicly supported vigilante fatwa death sentences against authors with whom he disagrees - not lately. But perhaps it's best that you buy the album anyway, just to keep him happy. Heck, it might even be a good record.

Beyond that, The Game has his second album Doctor's Advocate. He had beef with his former employer 50 Cent, so he doesn't have the services of Dre - the only possible point of musical interest. Apparently "former assistant thug" is considered a musical credential. I'm sure it'll be a huge hit, cause he's legit. The Game is from da street!

Not necessarily sounding like anything of likely lasting value, but at least hopefully containing some spark of with, Tenacious D has their second album, the soundtrack album for their new movie The Pick of Destiny.

Here's the complete list of this week's major new album releases, courtesy AMG.
