MySpace.com, the social networking site has said that it has deleted 29,000 convicted sex offenders accounts on its services. This number is more than four times the number it has originally announced. The social networking site owned by News. Corp had originally announced in May that it had deleted 7,000 profiles put up by convicted sex offenders. A coalition of state authorities has lobbied the website to put up more better safeguards that include such things as parental permission for minors and age verification.
Roger Daltry speaks out on UK copyright law
The Who's singer Roger Daltry has attacked UK copyright law asking for "fair reward" for the artist. Copyright on songs currently expires in the UK after fifty years, which means that the musicians don't get royalties generated by the song after that point. The government have said that they will consult about the law this Fall.
Joni Mitchell signs to Starbucks
Joni Mitchell has signed to Starbucks music label Hear Music which will release her comeback album. Mitchell is the second musician to sign with the label, following Paul McCartney. The label will release her first album of new material in almost a decade. Shine which will be released on September 25th.
