Instead of coming from the industrial heartlands of England or the US they come from the equivalent in Sweden. And like many hard rock bands from that part of the world, they nail the vibe perfectly. Now based in the UK, this lot seem to have gotten their formula down to a fine art. While maybe not a classic album this is quite a good release and will tick all the boxes rather well.
The band might have a bit of a mouthful for a name, but they don’t manage to be mealy mouth where it matters… in the bloody music. This is definitely a band to check out live and I should expect to see them on a tour near you very soon.
Hate Gallery: Compassion Fatigue
This lot are a combo of musicians from Britain, Finland, and Sweden who combine to produce punky, booze-soddled, heavy rock that reminds me a bit of Hanoi Rocks at their best. For those who don’t know Hanoi Rocks, think Guns n Roses and that whole LA scene as filtered via people from the right side of the Atlantic. Like some of their heroes, the band don’t hang around either and this CD barely cracks the thirty minute mark.
These are catchy, punchy, heavy rock with all the attitude that is needed to pull it off. You can just tell this band has to be seen live to fully appreciate it. The fourth track on here just sums up the whole attitude thing that seeps from yer speakers when you have this release on yer player. One of the members of the band has done time with Kory Clarke’s every changing Warrior Soul.
Despite the name, they are not some death metal onslaught . If you hanker for a bit of ‘tude now and then you owe yourself to check out this release when its comes out in early November. A name change might be in order however…
Untamed: Insanity Bound
If you are of a certain age this lot immediately evoke a memory of Metallica’s Lars Ulrich faves Diamond Head. Then one realizes the band learned their chops as a New Wave of British Heavy Metal covers band before striking out with their own material. This is their second release and shows a band that is sure of itself and knowing full well what they want to do. As a band they have supported NWOBHM faves Tygers of Pan Tang and the rump Saxon with Oliver and Dawson.
