Music Reviews: Ted Nugent, Beehover, and Trinicria - Page 2

Part of: Marty's Musical Meltdown

Beehover: Heavy Zooo

Once more I delve into my pile of odd stuff and this was the first to rise to the top. This mad heavy, but danceable music that either scares you or completely befuddles you at first. It's quite hard to describe for the uninitiated. As you might have gathered from the name of the album it's about the odd and weird animals that crowd their imagination. The cover features a rabbit with antlers and this is just the sort of oddity you can expect from this lot.

This heavy odd art metal from a duo that are either very clever or completely mad or both. They manage to evoke the same feeling as Devin Townsend at his most obscenely odd, retaining enough heaviness not to drive metalheads away as they delve into their odd minds. Don’t expect the normal subjects for the genre on here and it does make a refreshing break for the clichés of most metal.

You will either love or hate this… hell if I know what your reaction will be. One for the most adventurous of ears clearly. However, with a bit of effort, some time and an open mind you will find this most rewarding.

Trinicria: Travel Now Journey Infinitely

This is rather cool stuff from members of the awesome Norwegian metal beast that is Enslaved. Not content with thrilling the hordes of Viking metalheads across the world, the guys have this side band for their more chaotic and soundtrack like soundscapes. It has tints of Enslaved, as you would expect, except the music on here is far more epic in scope, no doubt reflecting the snowy scope of the Norwegian countryside.

The band also features members of the odd named FE-mail and Emmerhoof. It all started out as a one off gig that spun out of control. No doubt the gig was probably dreamt up while the bands were collectively pissed out of their heads. Now no one is going to say this is truly ground-breaking as Enslaved were when they unleashed themselves on the world. However as side projects go this is quite impressive in scope and will interest those with broad metal tastes.

That is your lot for the week. As always if I am so moved there may in fact be some overflow appearing on my site from this week’s pile. I suspect the term pretentious bollocks maybe pop up at least once when thinking about some of it.

As always stay rocking, safe and check out live music where you can.
