The songs are all catchy, varied, and easy to get into. There is no duplication of style or form, each one stands alone, individuals making up one whole. I can guarantee that if you pick any one song at random, you will find something about it that will make you listen to it again, and also make you wonder what the rest of them sound like. There is an infectious quality to them, metal, rock, grindcore, nu-metal, pop, even techno, all vying for your attention, all screaming Waltari.
When I sat down to really listen the first time, the opening hard rock/metal/goth strains of "Helsinki" had me nailed to my seat. The opening reminded me of Moonspell, before slipping into a few more genres, it is an amazing journey in a six minutes. Now take this sequence later on: start with "Back to the Audio," a techno track that stands out from the rest, followed by "Pigeons" which has a hip hop/pop flavor, followed by "Exterminating Warheads" a heavy grindcore excursion, that is a good example of what you are in for. Thereis no telling where the next song will take you, just know that it will be well worth your time.
Bottomline. Amazing, imaginative, and just plain different. I was not sure what to expect from a band called Waltari, and they brought me something I was not expecting. The brought a blast of originality, filled with skill and talent, and a willingness to experiment. This is an album that you do not want to miss.

oh i have to say this... I'm from Finland, hooked on waltari since 1995(? sorry cant remember the year right now but this is close) "Big Bang" album which is an absolute classic cd for anyone interested in rock/metal/"insert a genre" crossover... imagine something combining Faith No More with Metallica with Dimmu Borgir with 2 Unlimited.. thats the "Big Bang" for you.. and then there is the Blood Sample... the "comeback" album... awesome mix of Different styles just like Big Bang.. just maybe not going as extreme at different genres as Big Bang.
And if i have to recommmend two other cd's (in addition of Blood Sample and Big Bang) they would be "So fine" from 1994, their breakthrough album (at least somewhat in central europe.. still goin strong in czech/germany/poland etc)
And then the awesome masterpiece that was an ordered piece of art for the Helsinki Art Festival called "YEAH! YEAH! DIE! DIE! (Death Metal Symphonies In Deep C)" that is if u can still find it somewhere...
Anyway a band worth getting to know if ur not afraid ofbeing a person that follows your own path and not running behind the flavor of the day.. (cos if u are running behind the flavor of the day u are almost certainly at least a year or two behind the Waltari-time)
