Music Review: The Zac Brown Band - The Foundation

The Zac Brown Band seems to have a major hit with their fourth album, The Foundation. Led by Zac Brown himself, the band has a classic sound and has taken the entire country music genre by storm with their newest hit single, “Chicken Fried.” I found this song to be extremely catchy, but did not realize the kind of impact the song would have on the Billboard charts. After the song hit number one, I knew that I had to get my hands on a copy of this CD, and it certainly does not disappoint. The CD is led off by “Toes,” a song that immediately made me think about Jimmy Buffett and his “good life beach lifestyle.” It sets a relaxing tone for the album that may surprise many if they have never heard Zac Brown’s music other than “Chicken Fried.” The band seems to evoke a feel-good, sing-along kind of feeling, which is one of the big reasons why this album is such a hit.Throughout the course of the album, the songs all seem to differ with musical style, with no song sounding the exact same as the last. This makes The Foundation one of the more exciting albums to listen to, even if one isn’t as crazy about the classic country sounds. While it may be easy to judge the band by its more traditional album cover, many listeners should avoid the urge. Fans of newer, more contemporary country may be hesitant to check out this band, but man, they are missing out if they do. The Zac Brown band is talented top-to-bottom with strong lead vocals, catchy instrumentation, and solid song lyrics to round it out.One thing is for sure: once you get a hold of this CD, you will find it hard not to sing or hum along! The Zac Brown Band is one of the most laid-back country music bands you will find in the industry, but their fresh sound and creativity make this CD a must-have for any music lover.
