Music Review: The Rattles - Rattle On

Part of: Kiddie Corner

Does your child have a hard time waking up in the morning? Do they spend more time lounging in front of the television than they do shaking their booty? Well here's your chance to get them up and moving in the morning or any time.

The Rattles are a lively band of furry animals that make music for your children to get up and dance along with. The Rattles release their debut album, Rattle On on September 25th. The colorful group of animal musicians have developed a fresh, modern mix of classic rock and power pop, that reminds me of The Beatles, They Might Be Giants, and The Monkees.

The Rattles come straight from the swamps of Central New Jersey. They're an eclectic band of anthropomorphic critters (that means they're animals that act like people) that are preparing to roll out their debut studio album Rattle On. The Rattles are four musicians and life-long friends – Gus (the goat), Kitty (the cat), Sal (the snake), and Hal (the hippo) – who describe their upcoming release as “the album we were born to make.” Their manager Benny (a dog) and a bunch of roadies (penguins) all named Elvis help The Rattles take their show on the road.

This music is sure to appeal to fans of all ages from those of us who are old enough to remember classic rock bands like The Beatles (not me of course) to the younger generation who will be drawn to the catchy pop melodies and feel-good vibes. It's are sure to inspire lots of head swaying and booty-shaking from everyone.

Their debut album contains nine songs: "Rattle On," "Lucky Sam's Banana Stand," "Shipwreck in the Sky," "Wavy Lane," "Goodbye Yesterday," "1-2-3 Count on Me," "R-A-T-T-L-E-S," "Monday Morning Drive" and "Apple of My Eye."

The Rattles Band was created by Tony Caio, who is best known for his animation direction for well-known licensed creations like The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory for Scholastic, and Hollywood Betty Boop for Bally Gaming. He created The Rattles Band so parents and their children would have a way to connect through a family friendly music experience.
