Music Review: The Museum - Let Love Win

Here we go again! Why would a group call themselves ‘The Museum’. Have these rockers come to a mental block, asked the cynic within me?

However, a good listen to these debutants CD Let Love Win wiped off my scepticism that they’ve actually got a demonstrative message to offer. Such as the untold histories we find at the museums. Besides, the group’s drummer further added, “We had decided the band would be called The Museum,” Josh says, “because we hope our music and those we share it with can be the evidence that Christ has done a revolution in our hearts.”

Kicking off their eleven track album boldly on a melodious pitch with "Never Look Away", expressing heartfelt praise to God- “Daddy, you shine on us; though darkness, thunderstorms, with walls crashing around us simply disappears once you’re near.” Then enters "You Are Love" with a display of the rockers they’re made of, with real progressive contagious-anthem-rocking beats reminiscence of Kutless, (their label mates at bec Recordings) but with their distinctive definitive rhythm.

Followed by steady pop/rock ambience with the album title track "Let Love Win" - which is an encouragement to folks not to give up hope for a better future.

This is so long the sun still shines every morning.

Then in quick succession comes two singles, "My Help Comes From the Lord", and "Lost in You" which in my opinion heralds The Museum as a formidable group to reckon with. Then "Buy This" and "The Call" dwells on moving on with fulfilling our part by focussing on our Divine missions against distractions. And in "Allelujah" they stepped back in time with a contemporary remake of William. P. Mackay’s classic hymnal. Steaming on with a pop/rock anthem which will leave you swinging to the fast tempo, with "Radiance": - a reminder of God’s magnanimity to be with us through life storms. "The Only One" calms down the mood with a love song, before finally peaking with "The Anchor". This bothers on a longing for assuring answers.
