If you really like your music to be challenging, but approachable, catchy yet striving then you could do far worse than seek this Cruz del Sur release at your earliest chance. See if you can come up with a good description of the concoction that comes out of the speakers. Genius or complete pretentious bollocks? I have no freaking idea, but it's sure fun finding out.
Fireworks: s/t
Talk about a mis-titled album, there are no fireworks to be heard anywhere. Fellow listeners in the house asked me to change the CD, not because it was obnoxious or loud, but because this release was so bloody boring. It's monotonous, uninspired copying of the style of Fall Out Boy without any of the catchiness or sense of fun.
This band can obviously play, but they the songs just do nothing for anyone. There is little variety on here and it just sounds all the same. One has to wonder if this was released by mistake before the songs could be tarted up a bit for proper release. The press release talks about punk rock and punky songs… and I have to question which ones they are talking about. After listening to this CD a bunch of times, I was thinking that a Dido CD would be more exciting. Supposedly a great live act it simply does not transfer to record very well.
It's possible I am missing something here, it happens, but I just don’t get it at all. A wasted opportunity to convince us there is something going on here. I have not been this underwelmed in a very long time, that is despite repeated listens.
Well that is the end of your lot this week. I plan to pop a few more reviews into the overflow. As always please keep it safe and rocking. Check out live music whenever you can.

Imagine a bunch of Philadelphia based thrashers[Crown the Lost] on an Italian label doing music that rises above the new wave of American, thrash-by-the-numbers merchant.
This doesn't sound like Thrash in the least! And Chris Renaldi sounds like a bad rip off of the almightySteve Grimmett.
These guys are paying homage to their heroes by taking the music and adding their own twist to it.
First off, Anthrax had the operatic singer back in the day so this isn't a "twist". Second, this isn't thrash...Like I said. It sounds like the faster modern version of Power Metal like Dragonforce,etc..
