Ah, and then there's Tankian's singing. He reminds me of a slightly more sinister version of Freddy Mercury. In an age when too many rock frontmen are content to just scream, Serj can coax a line as well and let it fly. It's especially exhilarating when Tankian forces a set of lyrics through a twisty melody.
I suspect that artists of any political affiliation might be disturbed to read that a part of their work (the words!) is being ignored. The truth, for me anyway, is that I end up enjoying the music in a way that's obviously different than intended. Is that a bad thing?
