I enjoyed most of the tunes on this album, with my favorites probably the driving "R.S.V.P." and the softly melodic "Senbo's Dreamwalk", which closes the album. A nice mix of tunes and a nice debut album. I'm looking forward to more from Robert MacGregor.

After digging this CD for much of the summer, I'd just like to add my own "thumbs up" to this release. I was just getting ready to write my own review when I saw that Big Geez already got it well covered.
This MacGregor kid seems to have come out of nowhere with fully formed chops and amazingly deep songwriting abilities. The acoustic funk "Local Transfer" is my favorite cut, but there's really not a weak track in the lot, and they are all distinct, covering a range of moods. The closest comparison I can come up with is a young Wayne Shorter.
Those who are looking for a fresh new talent in mainline straight bop really need to check this guy out. You will not be disappointed.

When I see a debut album from a new musician, especially one this young, I really have to guard against my tendency to pre-judge it. Glad I was able to keep an open mind with this one.
Thanks for your comment, Pico.
