"An abstract exploration into the sublime world of Christian jazz". Nevertheless Laura Stincer's debut release will be a delight to all those who appreciate a blend of varied musical flavors. Sacrifice of Love was composed and arranged by Huerta Ramon, Laura's dad. With her wind instrument, this crooner makes a bold entry into the Christian instrumental jazz world not usually associated with ladies.
This year has produced a commendable number of emerging and promising talents whose music, I dare say, continues to give me a pleasant buzz. Laura Stincer is certainly one of them. Originally from Cuba, the young lady had mastered her art under the watchful eyes of a maestro (Alberto Corrales), with a national award to show for it.
From the first track "Ancient Wisdom", a sultry expression of liquid rhythmic-jazz infused with crossovers. Giving a gutsy groove with the jamming beats which releases grace, perfect for Thanksgiving.
Somewhat reminding you of the legendary Kenny G. Sacrifice of Love tells of divine love, grace, thanksgiving and hope even when it looks like one's run out of its supply. At some point you'd think you're in musical maze, back in medieval times or at the opera within a theatrical setting. Like in Exodus which speaks of departure of God's children from captivity in Egypt. Laura's flute was always on-hand to blend the different symphonies in the ensemble; R &B, some Latin, Hip-hop, rock, and jiving jazzy-soul together.
The purpose of this album is to take the listener to a place with God and appreciate the creations all around us. It is partly a by-product of having being in a loving relationship with the Creator, but also an avenue to show gratitude.
