A former punk (It says here.), Brown, as is the case with many artists, didn’t appear in this guise by osmosis, even gigging at CBGB’s in the never to be remembered Two Lane Blacktop, before a similarly anonymous stint in Sydney as one half of Teenager. This time round there are fewer chances being taken, as evidenced by an art exhibition due to open shortly in her adopted home town of London. Once bitten, Brown is typically antipodean in her attitude to success this time round, philosophically summing up her attitude by stating "If I think too far in the future I’ll just disappear inside myself”. The Lady has brought us the definitive sound of what female pop sounded like before Madonna - whether the introverted Pip Brown will be able to handle the inevitable fame will dictate whether she'll soon need another mask to hide behind.
