Dirty Bomb is the new project from KGC and is the first release of the new year for KMFDM records; the long standing records label ran by members of the band of the same name. KGC is comprised of KMFDM founder Sashca Konietzko, former Eurythmics band member and founding member of Curve, Dean Garcia. And Lucia Cifarelli who has been collaborating with Konietzko and KMDFM for some time.
Dirty Bomb is really a showcase for Cifarelli’s talents as she penned all the albums lyrics and provides the albums vocals with her angelic voice. That said KGC — for some reason I want to keep typing KFC — for all intents and purposes sound like a more feminine version of KMFDM. The main difference is that the songs focus on love and relationships and other girly interests as opposed to the socio-political tirades that KMFDM often create. Songs like “Best of Everything” and “Made for Love” follow the same melodic blueprint of KMFDM but come through of a more sensitive level. The result is a collection of love songs for the rave set.
The album was largely recorded in pieces throughout 2006 as the trio traded demos through the mail, often across continents. That is the one aspect of the record that is a bit of a downfall; you can hear the lack of cohesiveness at times especially on tracks like, somewhat ironically, the albums opening song “Ever After” and the album finale “Back to the Front (Feel Love)”
Still overall the album is enjoyable and proves why KMFDM, and their side projects, have been industrial music mainstays for the last twenty years. You can buy Dirty Bomb at the KMFDM store or it will be available on I-tunes starting April 20th.

The music is pretty good, but I have to say that the recording/engineering of the album really bites. Some of the songs you can't hear Lucia's vocals to well.
