Music Review: James Blunt - All the Lost Souls - Page 2

“I Really Want You” is another song I like. I would use the word ‘really’ right here but it’s used enough I think. “I really want you to really want me but I really don’t know if you can do that/ I know you want to know what’s right but I know it’s so hard for you to do that/ And times running out as often it does and often dictates that you can’t do that/ But fate can’t break this feeling inside that’s burning up through my veins.”

The album also includes “Annie,” “Shine On,” “I’ll Take Everything” and “I Can’t Hear the Music” all of which are great. Easy to listen to, and when it comes down to it, isn’t that what you want?

If you loved things from Back to Bedlam you are going to love things about All the Lost Souls. The feel is similar but Blunt has grown and with the growth comes pain which is always good material for music. For me the lyrics are always very important and Blunt’s lyrics stand out, add his voice, and the haunting piano or the chords of an acoustic guitar and you have a combination that is hard to beat.

Has this type of music been done better? Probably, but I see no reason not to blast this while you wait for whatever comes next. I like All the Lost Souls, it will be in my CD player for awhile and I’ll sing along until it drives my husband crazy. I’ll gush as I recommend it to friends, starting with you.

Great Review, seriously. Your right about James Blunt. At the end of the day he is a fantastic songwriter and singer.

Jaded critics are all too often dismissing great records like this because it's heavily exposed and well, popular. I really appreciate criticism that isn't negative and cynical about music that makes people feel something when their intellectual and social guard is down. Hell, that's what great music is all about. Enjoying it and letting it send endless shivers up your spine.

He Seems like a nice chap too! Kudos.

You do music reviews, too? Cool.

Anyway, agreed on James Blunt. Sometimes I just get the impression that he's been kicked in a very special place to get that high voice, but he really is a good musician and singer.
