Music Review: Isaac Hayes - Black Moses Reissue - Page 2

The original album folded out into a cross, showing Hayes in robe and sandals on the beach with arms outstretched, i.e. Black Moses. That cross shaped fold-out is duplicated on the reissue CD jacket. Don’t worry, on the flip side of the CD he’s photographed in full gold chained, baldheaded glory.

This Concord/Stax reissue includes liner notes by Rob Bowman, illustrated with little-seen photos of Hayes from the early '70s. The song order is the only gaffe in the new version. The double CD mixes up the LP side order, so you hear Side one, then four, followed by sides two and three of the original vinyl. So be forewarned when playing the CD.
