You know, not one band or musician is going to please everyone. It is impossible. Even The Beatles, who are widely regarded as the 'best' band ever, didn't please EVERYONE.
Why fight? it's not going to change anyones' opinions. People who like Drake will like Drake regardless of what you say, just like people who do not like Drake will not like Drake regardless of what we say. No one is right or wrong!
As for me, I think Drake is one of the most amazing things to happen to my ears.

Aunque este CD me encanto, debo decir que estoy de acuerdo en que no a todos nos gustan los mismos generos y aun dentro de los mismos generos, no a todos nos gustan los mismos artistas... pero lo que si quiero decir es que la persona que escribio este review definitivamente no debio hacerlo puesto que no tiene el criterio suficiente para ampliarse a más generos ademas de sus gustos personales (ya dejo bien claro que aparentemente odia a Drake bell), por lo que esta critica no es objetiva ni cumple su funcion: ayudar al lector a decidir si comprara o no el CD. ¿Porque le permiten que escriba si su opinion es completamente subjetiva?
El sonido de ITS ONLY TIME de Drake Bell simplemente es Pop, y es un pop muy ritmico y alegre, que tiene eso de malo? Si al escritor de la critica no le gusta, pues que no lo escuche!!

I'm 49 years old and have been playing music since I was 12. I agree that some of the songs on Bell's 2nd album are simplistic, but the single "I Know" is pretty darned good. Good show, Drake. Ignore the critics and give us a third album.

car accident or no car accident- the guy can sing- the guy can play his own instruments- the guy can act and hey everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I personally love his music, but thats me- however, if you do not like it there's no need to be rude about him. He's a human being with every right to record what he likes. okay, your review is mean and untrue. You talk about Drake's Cd being for 5 years old, you must not know music. Today the music world is surrounded by Explict songs about sexual things, curse words and/ or suside, its nice to hear Drake Bell sing about something pleasent. as for his theme being about "The entire world is beautiful and I love you" isn't it better to think that way than the way people think today?
I am thirteen years old and I think this Cd / artist is better than most of the people today.Okay so you may not like the CD, but you must say that this Cd makes the world sound a little nicer. and also, from your review, you must not know anything about Drake.I happen to know Drake personally and I know that he made the Cd to remind him everyday that he is alive. Like some other people have commented about, Drake was in a serious car accident. now if you were in a car accident and had a 40/60 chance of living, wouldn't you make a happy CD and look at the world in a good perspective? It's something of a positive reflection on Drake Bell that comments are still being posted to this scathing review. I haven't listened to the first album of his, or even all of the second. However, the juxtaposition (sp?) of the insanely upbeat music and the ridiculously risque lyrics in "Up Periscope" rule out the idea that his audience is a bunch of prepubescent teenage girls, etc.
Again, though, the comment review before mine seems to back up a lot of what you said in your CD review. However, as a non-giggly non-flightly non-blond teenager, entering my second year of college, I think the song "Up Periscope" is hilarious enough to redeem any other horrors that may appear on the CD that you so scathingly reviewed. I have to admit, now I want to go listen to all the other songs!

This review is horrible. He survived an insane car accident. I would be happy to be alive too. Also, just because hes on nick dosnt mean he cant make music. I mean hes an amazing guitarist. Lets see someone else try to survive a very severe car wreck and have a cd out in less than a year.

This reviewer is an idiot. Simple as that. Do your research next time. Drake Bell was involved in a horrible car accident in late 2005 and was lucky to be alive. Of course he's happy. And you clearly did not listen to the cd because his lyrics run very deeply. Maybe you're just deaf. That's the only explanation for such a bad review.

i've seen drake inconcert twice. he was awesome. i would rather listen to his music than the rap/pop crap played onthe radio now. his songs are from the heart and you can understand what he is saying. he doesn't stand there and spit onthe microphone and say he made music. he has more talent than half the people trying to make music now.

I think it is wonderful that there is finally some decent, clean music that my kids can listen to that isn't nursery rhymes or preschool songs. My husband and I can't even listen to the radio anymore because of offensive lyrics in songs. I also think his music is very good. He has a good voice and is very talented. How many bands put out dozens of albums before people thought they were good?

I am a 36 year old male musician with a collection of 3000 cd's. This album blew me away! It's incredible! One of the best albums of the decade easily. Every song is stuffed with melody and songcraft. What a treat. If this isn't your cup of tea, then go back to your crappy Smiths and Depeche Mode albums you tortured dweebs!

For the record (as if anyone cared) I'm female, 48 and have fairly eclectic taste in music...I bought the album assuming it would probably be made up of the usual morose life-is-crappy sort of songs that singers Drake's age seem to be turning out by the truckload lately. I was pleasantly surprised at how upbeat and joyful the whole album is. There's no law against liking music because it makes you feel good...and this album has that spark. When I want to feel moody, I'll haul out my Depeche Mode and Peter Murphy CDs... Might as well add--there's some very cool musical arrangements on this album.
People are contrasting it to his first album because it's musically and thematically different. Telegraph has some dark images on it, and some edgier sound as well.
And I haven't read all the comments--but the music was a product of the events of his life, and I hardly see hitting a metal steering wheel sans airbag or shoulder restraint and fracturing one's neck to be a minor thing. Many artists incorporate life experiences into their work.

Ahem... First of all, Drake is an AWESOME singer and tries hard to let people out in the world listen to appropriate, touching, heartfelt songs that he wrote! His words, his music, the beat, everything is soo wonderful! Any critics or Anti-Drake fans are so wrong. After that car crash he made all these songs from his heart, and it must've been hard after that car crash too. Don't you want to for ONCE listen to songs that don't have swear words, are touching, and are really the songs that should be out in the world. Drake fans all over the world know what music really is, and all that rap crap is wrong! Sure, I like listening to songs by Gwen Stefani and Fergie. But composers like Drake actually know who real singers are. Akon has really heartfelt songs too, and he bases them on his real life, just like Drake. Also like Drake, Eminem has a few touching songs of his own. He also bases them on his true life. Why can't you Anti-Drkae fans and critics understand what he is trying to tell this world?!
Drake, don't let these haters drag you down. Show them what real music is. Be the best like you always were. Rock on, Drake.

You make it seem as if being happy, upbeat and fun is a horrible thing! You say that he's writing this happy music while there's kids starving on the street and all that crap. You have to keep in mind that Drake Bell had gotten into a life threatening car accident before he wrote this album. while writing this album, all he probably could think about was how happy he was that he was still alive or that he could still sing. Can you blame the guy for being happy? And also, Drake Bell was influenced by bands such as The Beatles and The Beatles were an overall happy group. So before you even thought about reviewing this album so harshly, you should have kept in mind that maybe there was some crazy reason in this world for Drake Bell to be so happy. You know, it is ok to smile once in awhile. Because in this review, you made yourself sound melancholy and depressed. Seriously, while you were sitting at your computer writing this review, Drake was out there making big bucks and becoming even more famous than he already is. And he's still growing. And what are you? Some random guy on the internet who wrote that one review.

I can not disagree more with this review.
One thing you stated:

If you knew anything about Drake Bell, which you should after saying so many horrible things about him, which are apparently very inaccurate and clueless comments, you would know the reason that his second album "It's Only Time" is much more upbeat then his first "Telegraph" because after his first album Drake was in a tragic accident with his jaw wired shut and thought he would never sing again. Once he could sing again he wrote the song "Makes me Happy" which reveals that he learned that things could always be worse and that he is more then thankful he did no loose his amazing voice.
...if you don't think that is a "coming of age" that occurred in the ages 18-20, I am afraid to tell you that you are wrong. very wrong.
I personally LOVE both albums and even went to 3 shows in his tour this past summer. He is even outstanding live.
another statement you made:

...Drake's music does resemble The Beatles, and as a Beatles fan... I love that about his music as well.....Besides, the Beatles could have been on the worst of acid and still wrote an amazing hit, this is almost a compliment.

You don't know anything about Drake Bell so stop bagging on him. This album is "happy-happy" because after his nearly fatal car accident that dislodged 6 teeth, had his jaw wired shut, and a cut on his cheek that he said "It was like another mouth" that he could stick his tounge through. On top of all that he couldn't walk for three months, and he was on an all liquid diet.

Wow, I thought I was the only 40-something out there who found this music and loved it. I haven't bought a CD from a current group in over 15 years if not longer. I bought both Telegraph & It's only time because I found the video for the song "I know" online while trying to find stuff for my 6 year old son who loves the Nick show. It's been a long time since I've been moved by music, beautiful-powerful-fun. I bought the CDs for my son, they're MINE now! I'm trying to turn everyone I know onto them. I tell ya, the layers of the music, the harmonies, and the eclectic nature of all the tracks, from Beatle like to thrashing Pete Townsend! It's great. I can't wait for the next CD from Drake and all those guys, FANTASTIC!!

I haven't heard Bell's music, but the comments from adults saying positive things about this CD and Bell in general are encouraging.
However --
The majority of the commentors are aghast that someone does NOT like their idol's music. Well, Fumo Verde had the job of writing a 'review'. That's what we do here. (This goes to the person who admonished FV, 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all) Sorry, life doesn't work that way.
Many of us at Blogcritics don't enjoy writing a negative review - we don't get off on it. But we do our best to write honest and fair reviews, and sometimes we need to be negative.
And, honestly, the fact that Bell was in a horrible accident does not really have anything to do with how someone reviewed his music.
Again, I haven't heard the music, so I can't agree or disagree with FV - but I do think you all need to lighten up.

This article made me feel nothing but pity for the reviewer. If you believe that music has to be slow and sad to be good, you have something seriously wrong going on in your life...or else simply a stick up your ass. The lyrics don't always make sense because they are supposed to make you think about what they mean. I agree with many other people above me that the reviewer came into this cd with thier opinion already formed. Perhaps this person should get another job where being biased is ok, but reviews should be completely 3rd party objective. Maybe this person should remember that the next time they sit down to listen to some music.

Drake is one of the most talented people out there in this world!
He has an amazimng voice, he's an awesome musicain and the songs he writes have real depth and meaning!
I feel sorry for you, seeing as you can't find these depths and meanings!
For example, the song 'Makes Me Happy'- it actually makes you happy!
And yeah, there are some dodgey cuts between the songs 'Fallen For You', 'Rusted Shiloutte' adn 'Break Me Down'- but that's only because those songs are meant to link together, it's bascially like one whole song just cut up into 3!
I'm 14 and most teenagers always go on about Drake's looks rather than his talent!
But if anyone says that Drake's music 'sucks' then I will stick up for him right away!
If I met Drake I would tell him how much I loved his music!
Yeah I know its your own opinion but you could have at least tried to find the true meanings and something that you actually like about the album!
