For your information, Drake's fans are NOT all Teenyboppers!! I happen to be a 37 yr old mother of a teenage girl, how dare you insuate and make false accusations about Drake and his fans. Drake's fanbase is one of the closest, friendliest, supportive fanbase that I know. You people with your insults and personal attacks are just so stuck in your own pathetic, insecure little bubble that you can't see what talent is right infront of you. Drake takes his ideas from the classic artists, you know, the ones that don't need to swear in every sentence of their songs, the ones who's music actually has meaning and isn't mindless drivel, the ones that have been around for years and that will still have a fanbase and be remembered years after the crap you listen too has been forgotten!.....yes I'm thinking of the, Jesse Macartney crap that we have to put up with, the stupid girl crazy, manufactured boy bands who think that they can sing when they really have no talent what so ever. OH not to mention the idiotic mindless drawl most of the rappers sprout out of their mouths! See! Do you like YOUR fave artists slammed? NO, so does us all a favour, Quit messing up this comment board with silly, childish, totally untrue and SLANDEROUS material! You think you're so clever calling Drake and his music, but basically you're totally sad and pathetic. GROW UP!

To all the True Drake Bell fans on here, we know where the real talent is, shame the sad idiots on here can't see it!

I really like the album. I wouldn't say 'Up Periscope' is a kiddy song? 'Up Periscope' is about SEX mate, clearly not a kiddy topic - Maybe if you had actually listened to the lyrics you would have realized that. And no I'm not a 'hardcore fan' either. I'm 16 - I don't WATCH nickleodeon or whatever.

Also it's nice to see a young artist that doesn't MIME on live performances for once. :-)

He has alot of talent, writes his own stuff, plays his own instruments. And yes your right - this album won't be his last, and I'm glad of it. :-)

Last time I checked this was a review on this cd.....not his first cd, nor a review about how he survived a car wreck. Great to hear that he survived a bad wreck and that he had a good first cd (supposedly) but this cd is what this review is about and this review is right on.....this album sucked!!!!! I wouldnt give this cd away to a friend....or an enemy. Its that bad. People talking about how great a person he is and a great role model....that just reinforces this review that he is way too happy happy.....a kid entertainer....teen entertainer. Im sure teen girls all over are eagerly waiting for more of this guy.....but for most of us adults who are looking for good music....this review is right.....dont look for it on this cd.

"or should i say El Bitcho"

Well ~*qat*~, I would recommend against it since being the easist insult, it shows what little depth you have, but then so does saying "drake bell iz THE gr8est singer EVER".

If you have a problem with the review, take it up woth Fumo Verde, the guy who wrote the review.

    Your review sucks.....

I bet you haven't heard the music or heard when you were in bad mood.

Again, explain, why is it wrong to make a positive CD?

  • 36 - Hanachan

    Dec 21, 2006 at 11:33 pm

I actually enjoyed this CD. It wasn't perfect, and Telegraph was much better, but it's catchy and fun. You have to give Drake credit for trying to do something different at least. Oh well, everyone has theirown opinion. You like it, I don't. It doesn't change either my view, or yours, nor does it affect really much of anything.

However, since when is "Up Periscope" a kiddie song? Were we listening to the same CD? It's about sex last time I checked.... :)

    hey machobicho -
first off you blow your load on your critique of music which must mean your so sexually frustrated that you cant come up with anything better to do than rip on music that actually is good for the soul. With all the negativity in life right now (war, terrorism, you) thank God that someone is actually writing music that is happy about certain things. Sure, some of his music is happy-happy and some of it is sappy-sappy, but at least he is not talking about how much cocaine he snorts off of whores nipples like you. Or how about all the shit that comes out with rappers these days? sure people bump and ride to it, but i dont see you ripping them apart for their sexual discrimination and misconduct.

Figure your shit out bitcho. You should allow someone to critique your life and then you would realize all the bullshit that you spew at others is from your own fucked up past.

Why dont you go try to cut an album about how great you are and see if any people would spend their hard earned dollars on it.

  • 38 - El Bicho

    Dec 27, 2006 at 6:05 am

Mr Cheeks, why am I not surprised that another person who enjoys Bell's "music" doesn't know how to read? Look back and see where it says, "Written by Fumo Verde"? That's the guy you want to complain to, so figure your own shit out, spaz.

Sounds like you are the one who has spent too much time doing coke because you are delusional. I haven't heard the CD or passed judgement on it, but considering how large of an idiot you come off as, I can tell which way I'm leaning.

If you want to provde us a rap CD to review, we'll give it a listen.

    Dec 28, 2006 at 5:12 pm

this whole thing is taken wayyyyy out of proportion.
sure el bicho is a wack and has no idea what the hell he is talking about. and sure drake is amazing but...k well maybe its not.

i would like to see you do something better...
i'd like to see you sing and write and play SOMETHING.

and we hope that people dont read this and then have a dislike towards drake forever.

just because he was on nick. doesnt mean everything he does is kiddie (ohh thats a great word tooo, lame and a half) hes 20 for crying out loud.

    fat critic.
    k thanks bye.

well, uh, i dont know who side im on, im a pretty neutral person. I can understand the bad reviews and the good. the first time i heard the song "i know", i didnt like it either, and i was thinking the same thing, the whole "nickstar tries music" thing. But i listened again, and i got it. his lyrics make sense, at least to me. sure, they arent that deep, but why cant they be straight forward? and the melody grows on you after the first few times. so theres my thoughts on it, i can go both ways. i do have one more thing to say though, is this really worth fighting over? so maybe you like it or you dont, people are bound to go both ways. just accept that other people disagree on your opinion, or maybe their weird like me and can go both ways

  • 41 - random person

    Dec 29, 2006 at 8:06 pm

i have to agree with sarah,#40, up to a point. I liked what i heard, at first. but that song, up periscope, urrr... im a very up tight christian girl, i admit, and i couldnt beleive it. i liked the show drake and josh, and i thought they were nice people who dont cuss or talk about, you know. i was shocked. i thought he wouldnt know or sing about, that stuff. oh well. sorry guys, im just a naive person who blushes and gets embarresed on that kind of stuff. its not as hardcore as some artists. so maybe thats good, or not. im blushing, you cant see me but i am. i better go, im really uncomfortable.

i think drake is amazing and can sing really well. most people figure drake is some young kid trying to make it big. give him a chance, geeze.
    and to ask random person...
hes 20, do you honestly think he doesnt know about "that stuff" (no one can see you, you can say it) sex. (not to be mean) at least he doesnt come RIGHT out and say it.
hes not a teenager, hes man enough to sing about anything.

Music is a personal choice. For me it is something that has been in my home since I was a child; music of all genres. Today's hip-hop, rap, etc. do not really capture my mood or do much for me, but then I'm pushing 70. At the present time, my car driving choices are Il Divo, Toby Keith, West Side Story soundtrack, Tommy Scott's Strings of Scotland, Elton John and Drake Bell. After I saw Drake Bell sing "I Know" on Fox News I bought the album. As far as I'm concerned he is a very talented, creative young man and I truly enjoy his music. Particularly the happy, happy feelings it gives me.

Perhaps, we need to just forget the music critics. Like us, each one has his/her own criteria for what is enjoyable to them. If it's something that gets them to the point of considering offing themselves then they have other problems and need help and shouldn't be telling us what to buy. Obviously, Mr. Verde doesn't like happy. I think the majority of us do and we have to go with whatever makes us have the feelings we want to feel at the moment. So, don't read music reviews, just buy and listen to whatever does it for you.

Hello crew, Admiral Abraham here. It is true I am faceless on the cd, Drake all over it, Mike on the inside front, and I don't mind. My name is where it belongs, and I am happy to be included on such a wonderful cd.

As for the comments of "El Bicho" (fans, take note of the chosen name of this reviewer) This individual is allowed his (or her) opinion. I am sure in his (or her) world that opinion is valid. I am glad I don't live in that world. In our world (mine and our fans) we are aware of a few things this reviewer is not, and I'll just leave it at that. For those who have supported us, Thank you. For those few that have not, Thank you, for you have allowed me to see the other side, and have shown me you are far, far outnumbered by the fans. Keep up the good work.

I too made the mistake of believing El Bicho wrote the review, in fact it was Fumo Verde, or for you non latin speaking types...Green Smoke.

Backhouse Mike would say, this reviewer is a Noob. I myself appreciate this reviewer, his (or her)friend El Bicho, and their willingness to lay it all out there right or wrong.

Hey, the Album Is More Boppy Beacuse he Said In An Interview Most of the songs are about him surviving that horrible car crash ... and about how hes so lucky to be alive.. and so waht if the lyrics dont make sense you listen to nirvana or queen lyrics or beatles songs like come together they make no sense at all either... i just think this is a rather unfair unprofessional review.

  • 49 - Jessica

    Ha!
Its Blates beacuse your jealous of him.

You Cant Stand That he has talent because hes been on nickoldeon.

he is a 20 yr old he is aloowed to right things like that. it also shows its directed at a more older audience not just teens like people stereotype

I think you have everything all wrong. You are the perfect example of a steriotypical person towards drake. He has even said in his own words that people pretty much have this preconcieved notion that hes just some nick star and hes going to just get with some producer and do a kareoke album. Get the facts next time. He totaly makes sense with his lyrics. Even if you are too much of a dumb ass to understand, thats too bad for you. He has said flat out that he needed to to this not just for people, but for himself. Cant you let him have that? He has tried and struggled so much. So i hope you know how srrong his fans are, and that they will be by his side always and forever! Let this be a little lesson to you.

  • 54 - ME

    Jan 18, 2007 at 2:52 pm

Well,I came across this review and was so irritated. I am not a young "fan"--I'm 47--and not only am I extremely impressed with Mr.Bell's serious talent but I'm also impressed with what I've seen of him as a person. In fact my whole family enjoys his talent, from my husband to my married children. This whole attitude has been around forever---if a young man, who has serious talent, comes along he is usually dismissed by so called critics simply because he was a teen star-happens to be nice looking, etc. So, if you're not much to look at (or just plain creepy in some cases-)if you started out as a child star, etc.-you just cannot be truly talented, right? That mind set has always infuriated me. There have been "teen idols" in the past that were true musicians with extreme talent that took this same abuse and in some cases it even did them in. It is ABSURD that simply because you are attractive or a nice person (and--heaven forbid--have a teen following)-then it's just not possible in some peoples smallish minds that you can possibly be a serious musician. Unbelievable. I say listen to the MUSIC---WITHOUT your ridiculous bias against him simply because you've decided to peg him as a teen idol with little substance. I would bet if someone had given you this CD, with no name, no photo of the artist, no background knowledge of him, nothing-- I can safely bet your review would have been totally different. Even if his style of music isn't your taste---which is fine--you still wouldn't have been so harsh and nasty. I find it unbelievable that an ADULT that's supposed to be a serious critic would sound like a teenage boy making fun of the singer his girlfriend likes...that is Jr high behavior...something I grew out of over 30 yrs ago. "Critics" that are not able to be mature and professional and listen to a CD without bias or preconceived notions simply should not be critics.

    Jan 19, 2007 at 6:02 pm

I'm 19 and a fan of Drake Bell and his music. I was just wondering, since when is a happy album a bad album? I didn't know that depressing music was the only music worth listening to. I am tired of people who dismiss certain music artists because of their narrow views on what "good" music is. If you're going to review an album, at least have an open mind before you listen to it. I'm sure 95% of this review would have been the same whether or not you listened to the album.

  • 56 - lizzy

    Jan 21, 2007 at 2:13 pm

The album is great! and so what if all the songs are upbeat, they're still good songs. and Drake said that it was an upbeat album because he was very happy when he was writing it because he was lucky to be alive after being in a serious car crash. You just sound like a sad person. And he can write songs that aren't upbeat too, the songs on his other album, Telegraph aren't all upbeat. And Drake Bell is NOT a sugarcoated pop artist! I thought his new album was very creative, and enjoyable to listen to, and drake Bell is very talented.

Oh My God!! If you seriously think that way about Drake then keep it to yourself because we don't want to here about your complaints.Oka so Drake isn't perfect in every way. But who cares? You should be happy that you didn't get in a car accident and you should just listen and enjoy his Amazing, heart touching music and lyrics.I deal with little kids at home because of my moms job and yeah, so he has a young audience but he also has a teen and adult audience too.

My 12 year old son became a fan of Drake about two years ago. After watching a few episodes of the Drake & Josh show with my son and purchasing the Telegraph CD, I too became a fan. I am 37 and love Drake's music. I recently bought his new CD. Although it is quite different from his first, I really enjoy the upbeat style he chose this time. It reminds me of the music I grew up listening to in the 80's. 80's music was always upbeat. Music you could dance to and sing along with. What's wrong with that? My son and I will continue to support Drake and buy all his CD's Also, Up Periscope is mild compared to some of the music today. Besides, young kids who aren't old enough to understand the meaning of the song will just think it's a cute song about a submarine!

well. i find u wrong! vwery very wrong! while i am reading this review now, i am very angry that u can't appreciate music, and people who live the music in each second of their life...

for my opinion- drake is very talented.. i love his music.. i love his lyrics.. i found myself cring in the song "telegraph" of his frist albome who has the sog's name too..
i think that the writer of this review doesn't know what is real music, and i never said that everyone must like the same music that i like but hey- u can'd say thoes things abous aperson who gave his life for this songs tns this akbome.. and i think that if drake's music eas so bad, universal motown was never making him an albome and all those fan's, like me, out of usa wasn't even existent!

and well, drake is happy in this albome, he is happy because he is doing what he want's and love- music, and he is happy because people appeiciate his talent, and he is happy becaue of their are few peoples like the autor of this review who don't kno what is real music, he is happy because he has a lot of fans over the world, he is happy because he enjoy the life, and he is expressing all of this happynees on his music, and well- i wish him just a happy days, so he will keep makr woderfull music!

i hope and sure that it's not the last cd of drake.. and i am very happy twhen i read the other comments to the review which are very supporting drke's music!..

AND DRAKE- KEEP MAKE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC! THS IS WHAT MAKES U SPECIAL..

Alright get real! U R wrong about all except one thing.
First of all your wrongs...if you listened to the first cd you would see that it was not up-beat! It was very deep and very emotional. Drake has a sense of style in music. Its unique and rewarding and do not ever compare him to other pop stars he is not some sell-out who landed a deal cause he was a star he played small gigs for years till a major label finally recognized his talents. He's not some paris hilton crap that got a deal cause of their name get real!! Drake, Michael, and CJ are the most talented musicians out there and u have no clue or no talent apperently! You have not right to review this you good for nothing. You prob enjoy sell-out pop shit music! Like jesse mccartney get over your freakin self and face reality. Drake's music is the real deal. He writes. He sings. Produces. Plays music. He's real and you prob cannot even write a poem. And do not even start on kids starving in the streets Drake donates to charity non-stop and what have u done, just dissed people who care about others. U R the loser all of us who bought the cd are winners!!!
You are talkin about up-beat well u know atleast he is not singin like some bands tellin kids to smoke and drink he is a role model and most of his fans are older we have parents who love him lots!!!! His shows fill seats will people of all ages!
His lyrics are actually sometimes refering to sexual concepts and u say its kiddy music for real he said in up periscope "rippin off yur clothes" ok yeah those lyrics are sooo church like who r u man?? He's not singin kiddy music its real all true experience real. If i was your boss you would be fired reviewing drake like this go review all the pop bull shit that is selling right now u idiot they are the crap not drake a real musician is what he is. This cd is up-beat and happy just like all his fans we are happy and now for that one thing you were right about that is.....U R SOOOO RIGHT THIS WILL NOT BE HIS LAST CD!!! ITS JUST ANOTHER ONE ON HIS ROAD TO SUCCESS TO PISS OFF LOSERS LIKE U I HOPE U NEVER GET TO REVIEW ALBUMS AGAIN U DIRRTTYY STINKIN WHORE FACE!!! GET A LIFE!!!!!!
DRAKE SUCCEEDED LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE AGREE WITH ME U FAILED LOSER U FAILED!!
PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOME IT bitch!!

I Love Drake Bell's music and lyrics because he has a wide variety of an audience. For example, He is on a show called " Drake and Josh" and that is steered towards a younger audience. But what people theses days don't realize is that Drake is 20 years old and hes not a kid. And who cares if his lyrics are kinda unique. He wrote some of the greatest songs I've ever heard and I know he will continue.

You all do realize what the song "Up Periscope" is about? Eek! It's pretty perverse. :X

But anyway, that's besides the point.

Drake Bell is his own genre of music, a real talent.

I saw him live at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, & he blew me away. Drake can play the guitar really well! I was extremely impressed by his guitar solo. Glad to see he's becoming quite popular! I knew he would..

I'm not sure what this guy is smoking, but not all the songs on his CD are "super-upbeat" and "happy-happy". And who gives a fuck if some are? Shouldn't there be joy in a person's life? I know when I'm in a good mood and I feel happy about the world, this is the CD I grab. I'm a fan of all music from Frank Sinatra to Jack's Mannequin to Ying-Yang Twins. Drake Bell happens to be one of my favorite because his music is truly unique. It's inspirational and a lot better than some of the trash out today. I'd rather listen to this than wrist-slitting, depressing, emo-poser music. Here's some advice to all those who hate Drake's music for whatever reason: Get the huge stick out of your ass, buy yourself an ice cream, and try to enjoy the positive side of some different music. Peace out.

Okay, listen to me. YOUR REVIEW SUCKS! Get that?
How dare you even insult Drake Bell! You think he has no life and he's just a Nickelodeon kid. Well, YOU'RE WRONG! Do you have any idea what Drake's music is like? Did you know he put his heart into every song!?!? Did you know his music is all influenced by the Beatles, Beachboys, The Who, and many other great artists who don't sing terrible songs that constantly swear and have no meaning!?!?! You think that rhyming rap crap is better than Drake!?!?! THINK AGAIN! You have NO TASTE at all in music!!! And have you even listen to 'Up Periscope'? Do you even know what the lyrics mean??? It's certainly no kid song, that's for sure!!!
And after that car crash!!! Did you know he's damn right lucky to be even ALIVE? Imagine that, you almost dead. I wish you were!!! Then you wouldn't have written this suckish review!!! Did you know how Drake feels? How lucky he is to be alive! That's why his album is so happy!!! At least he's grateful to be alive, unlike you!
He's not one of those drug taking, smoking, drinking dork celebrities that you see now days!!!
I don't mind critiques, but you just went too far!!! I like to see you write an album!!! Especially after a car crash!!! Go get a life, LOSER!
