Music Review: Dierks Bentley - Feel That Fire

Dierks Bentley’s newest album, Feel That Fire, is scheduled for release in February of 2009. The up and coming Phoenix, Arizona native is one of country music’s brightest young male vocalists. Feel That Fire is Bentley’s fourth major studio album, and if his past successes with his album releases are any indication, he’s going to have some major success with this one as well. Of the first three albums, no album failed to peak lower than #4 on the US Country Album charts, and two were certified platinum.

Perhaps the most attractive thing for most fans about Bentley is his predisposition for fun. His laid back and fun approach to his music puts him somewhere in between the relaxing Jimmy Buffett and the entertaining Kenny Chesney.

The album starts off with a revving of an engine, and while many listeners may wonder if it is the album or their motorcycle out in the driveway, it provides an exciting, “buckle-up-because-this-is-going-to-be-good” introduction to an exciting first track. Bentley keeps the high energy going through the first few tracks of the album.

“Feel That Fire,” the title track to the album, is extremely catchy and is sure to be another big hit on the U.S. Country Music Charts. “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes” is sure to make most female Bentley fans swoon, as the sound is similar to ballads such as Lonestar’s “Amazed.”

One issue that some country music lovers may like or dislike is that many of the songs on the album seem to have the same Dierks Bentley sound. Unfortunately, there is not a ton of diversity on this album, and the tracks sound very similar to his past releases. Diehard fans of Dierks will love this, however, as the tried-and-true formula is back at work again.

Besides, if your last three albums haven’t peaked at lower than #4, you know you’re doing something right. Dierks has a big-time release on his hands when this album comes out in February, and this is a great listen for anyone who likes country.
