Music Review: Danny Bryant's RedEye Band - Watching You! - Page 2

Part of: Eurorock

All ten tracks are Danny originals. The album opens with the title track and contains all the now familiar trademark scorching licks. As debuts go this marks a brilliantly assured entrance into the world of the blues. It is a world that Danny has subsequently made his own across Europe.

When “Since You’ve Gone” scorches in you can see exactly what all the fuss was about. Expertly backed by his father Ken on bass, and drummer Trevor Barr, Watching You! is a great addition to anyone who has discovered Danny Bryant’s RedEye Band further down the road.

The immediacy of the album goes a long way to capturing the impact of seeing the band play live. “Living In The Lion’s Den” has them on top form particularly with Danny’s voice and his searing guitar breaks. There are too many highlights to mention in full but suffice to say, this is a rollicking blues workout that is well worth the entrance money.

“Search For You” smoulders nicely, whilst “Heartbreaker” grinds and drives. “Purple” is a smooth instrumental showcasing that guitar once again. An emotionally charged “Follow On” leads to a standard work out with a nicely raunchy “Dancing Girl”. “Falling Tears” sounds like its title and ends the album with a gentle comedown.

This is where it all started for one of the hottest bluesmen in Europe and it is now available to enjoy all over again. Last years Black And White was, in many ways, the culmination of all that progress over the years but there is no doubt that the foundations for that excellent album were laid way back with Watching You!

You can catch up with Danny’s relentless tour dates on his MySpace page.
