Music Review: Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash (24K+ Gold Edition CD) - Page 2

Obviously, a meticulous process like this is going to make just about anything sound better. In the end, what it really comes down to is the music - and Crosby, Stills & Nash remains a truly great collection of songs. It’s there right from the beginning, with Stills’ classic “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.” The harmonies these three reach are indeed something very special. One might think that after about ten billion radio plays, one might say that enough is enough. But no, sitting down and listening to the track in this format, I found myself thoroughly enjoying it again, and marveling at just how on top of their game CSN were.

The same holds true all the way through. Crosby, Stills, & Nash is almost a greatest hits in itself. In addition to “Suite” the disc contains such staples as “Wooden Ships,” “Marrakesh Express,” “Guinnevere,” and “Long Time Gone.” It paved the way for the singer-songwriter explosion of the early seventies, and some people were even calling them the “American Beatles.”

Hype is hype, and the future held a lot of changes for the trio, including the addition of Neil Young for their next recording, Deja Vu. It is surprisingly easy to forget all of that though, and just enjoy the music the guys laid down so many years ago. Especially when it sounds as good as this remastered 24K+ Gold Edition CD does.
