You know how some artists just have an album that is going to change their lives forever? Reckless was the album for Bryan Adams. Although he had scored hits with Cuts Like A Knife, this album brought him hit after hit with "Run To You", "Heaven", "Summer Of 69", "One Night Love Affair", and "It’s Only Love". Of course, "Summer Of 69", was probably his biggest hit, and one that has stood the testament of time. To this day, every time I hear this song, I feel the passion involved with it, and what the song was all about. How many people can say that about songs from today’s musicians?
This album is probably one of my all-time favorites, and one I don’t pull out enough. It was the first album I owed on cassette in '84, at the age of 8, and one of the albums that cemented my love for music. Hence, to say, there isn’t anything bad I can say about this album.
Naturally, it’s flannel-rock music, and it’s as hard and heavy as Adams could go, but it’s just pure magic. From the darkness of a man cheating on his partner in "Run To You", to the sweet ballad of "Heaven", this album is a must for music lovers.
It has blistering guitar riffs, and is pure rock n roll. It captures an era that knew how to play instruments, and knew how to rock 'n' roll and define their music.
If you were going to buy one Bryan Adams album to have in your CD collection, my advice would be to bypass the stuff he’s brought out recently, and head straight for this one.

Yep, this is definitely a definitve album for BA. And though I know what you mean, I'd argue it wasn't a career changer - I could be wrong, butfrom what I understnad he's had passion for rock and roll since his early teens and he has monomaniaclly pursued his career as a musician to the exclusion of everything else - the moment one tour is done or album finished, it's right back out on the road or into the studio, even during his down times. Perhaps he's just Canada's equivalent of Prince - except not so funky.
