I’m a self-confessed Springsteen fan. I have been since the first time I heard "The Boss" playing on the radio. That was over 23 years ago, and I am still a huge fan. This is Springsteen unplugged, just his amazing voice and the songs.
One of the things that has made Springsteen who he is and lasting is the sheer brilliance of his songs. He has never strayed from his working-class roots, and never strayed from being true to himself.
While this unplugged album has some of his most memorable songs such as "Atlantic City", "Human Touch", "Thunder Road and "Better Days", it also allows new fans a glimpse of other great songs such as "Red Headed Woman", "Darkness On The Edge Of Town", "My Beautiful Reward" and "Living Proof".
It’s an album that’s just not about redoing the hits acoustically, but allowing those to see the versatility of Springsteen’s work. While I love his bigger hits, such as "Born In The USA", "Dancing In The Dark", and "Glory Days", I am actually glad those tracks didn’t make this album for the simple fact they would overshadow the not so known ones.
The music is loud, it’s rock, it’s roll. It’s pure Springsteen.
I love this album through and through. I give it 4/5

Ummm.... this album isn't really acoustic at all, except Red Headed Woman. And the extended Light of Day certainly isn't - there's a band & electric guitars on most tracks. Unless I missed something...

Yeah - I agree. The actual title of the album is called Plugged. Even though it was part of the MTV Unplugged series, Springsteen chose to NOT unplug for this concert as he was warming up for an upcoming tour with his new non-E Street band. So it wasn't acoustic at all.

Yeah.

So, Janine.... do you get out much? I mean, if you read the cover art for the CD, it even has the "un" in Unplugged crossed out. Listening to all the loud guitars, etc. that you commented on, what gave you the idea it was unplugged?

I think they've gotcha on this one Janine. The album you reviewed is most certainly not an "unplugged" album. There is an unplugged DVD of Springsteen for VH1 Storytellers that was recorded right around the time of Devils & Dust, but this one you are talking about aint it.
But hey, don't sweat it, we all make mistakes...

Well, at least that part is right.
