All the influences are there with a touch of Zeppelin, a splash of The Ramones, and a dash of Black Crowes. This is rock ‘n’ roll just as it should be. In Rob Alder they have a real find but it is how the band fire as a unit that will grab hold of you by the scruff of the neck.
You know from the very opening of “Suddenly Attacked” that I Loved You is something special. “Golden Girl” has shades of The Ramones. The excellent “Another Way” is the perfect vehicle for our young ‘Mr. Mojo Risin’. “I Don’t Even Like You” has you being proposed to by a girl during that dangerous time in a leap year and the title is the answer.
A cover of Thomas Dolby’s “Windpower”, and a superb “Jenny Don’t” cement the middle section brilliantly. The hook laden tracks, “Get It While You Can”, and “Forgiven” work superbly providing a reminder of times when bands with a sound like this ruled the world. The shifting “Gone”, and the Soho sleaze of “15 Seconds”, add even more quality. “Just Passing” closes the album with a wonderfully crafted and hauntingly effective track. It’s classic rock – full stop.
Big Linda are onto something and if any of the above description rings your bell then this is an album that you should make part of your collection now. Let’s hope the way they came to together is an indicator of something special going on. I loved, I Loved You. Give Big Linda a go, but be careful how you search for it on the internet!
Maybe it’s best if I give you the link to Big Linda’s official website.
