Al Green was born Albert Greene on April 13, 1946 in Forrest City, Arkansas. In high school Green formed a group called Al Greene & the Creations, later to be known as Al Greene & the Soul Mates, which recorded their first hit “Back Up Train” on their own label, Hot Line Music. The single was a success though other songs would not be as successful. Green’s first album Back Up Train was released in 1967 on the same label. After that Al Green would prove to be an R&B sensation with albums such as Let’s Stay Together, Call Me, and many more.
This album was designed to give you all his hits from the ones you know to others that fell under the radar. These songs take you back to the romantic side of music.
