Bah! I was planning to do a 'divorce' playlist for some time, and never got around to it.
Nice list, Robert, but where's "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"?
;-)
2 - Robert
I take it you mean Tammy Wynette's
"D-I-V-O-R-C-E'?
If so, good question. Of course, there are thousands of divorce songs and Tammy's is up there on the list, however I wanted this list to be more of an empowering "Fuck You" kinda Divorce Party playlist. Tammy's song would better serve the "get drunk and slash-your-wrists" divorce party.

Liz Phair's "Divorce Song":
And the license said you had to stick around until I was dead
But if you're tired of looking at my face, I guess I already am
...ouch

Great Gatsby's ghost, where the hell is Bob Dylan on list? Bob wrote one of his absolute masterpieces entirely about an ugly divorce... Blood on the Tracks.
Want bitterness, how about this lyrical gem from 'idiot wind' - "You're and idiot babe, it's a wonder you can even feed yourself"
When people pile accolades up to Bob about that album he dismisses them with "why, it is a horribly album about a horrible time". I find it the only listenable Dylan album post Blonde on Blonde

I'd add Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" to update the list a little...
6 - Robert Burke
You won't find any Kelly Clarkson in my playlists. If you want that trash watch MTV.
7 - Simon
From the UK, you must add The Kaiser Chiefs "Every day I love you less and less".
8 - Kelli
A little dated, but how about the song from Rogers and Hamerstein's "South Pacific" : I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair
(Nellie & Cable)
9 - Anykid America
that's all nice and good but there are songs that show the real side to divorce...the pain of those with no choice in the matter. The children. Try Blink 182's Stay Together for the Kids, or Sanctus Real's Don't Give Up. I've no home because my parents decided that it was ok to break a vow. Selfishness is the strongest proponent for divorce. I don't want to hear all your stories of those who are abused in marriage. The fact is most divorces are not because of abuse they are because of selfishness. Millions of children have their home ripped from them. That is not JUSTICE!

I did a search cuz I'm looking for songs to make a CD for my friend whose going through divorce and this page was first in the list. You guys have got some good ones!
Celine Dion's got 3 good ones on her new Taking Chances album.
Fade Away - Though I have regrets, I'll learn to forget, And just keep moving on. Cause when love is gone, You have to be strong. Once touched by pain, You're not the same...
I got nothin left - Anybody ever tell you that you've got nerve, Treatin' my love like just another word. Tired of giving love to you that you don't deserve, So this is one way of saying it's over
Cause I got nothing left, I gave you my best
And you treated it worthless, So I got nothing left
Anybody ever tell you that you're gonna learn
Trust and respect are two things you must earn
When it came to lovin' me you just weren't concerned. You never gave a damn so I guess now it's my turn
And This Time - The life I meant to lead, Won't slip away from me..
'Cuz this time is the last time, I know that my eyes have seen too much. This nightmare is not fair And I've had enough. You break me, and as I bleed, You just say you're sorry, You call this love? But this time your lies Are not enough, This time..
ok, well i could paste the whole song, but they're worth a listen.
Thanks much!
