Music News: The 69 Eyes Release New Album Back in Blood

Part of: NewsFlash

The 69 Eyes play guttural hard rock with the flavor of 80’s Sunset Strip glam and a dash of Eurotrash imagery. Based out of Helsinki, Finland, the band has been very successful in Scandinavia and has been gaining a cult following in the US metal underground over the last few years.

Their new record, Back in Blood, has just been released by The End Records. It was produced by renowned hard rock producer Matt Hyde (who also turned the knobs for Slayer). It advances their basic sound somewhat, but things aren’t jumping into 7/4 time. This is hard rock of the classic variety, given a new and modern kick. Their first single “Dead Girls are Easy” has been getting some airplay and generating additional buzz. The band is about to embark on their third US tour and it will undoubtedly be their most successful yet.

Lead singer Jyrki puts forth the image of rock n’ roll debauchery, but in addition to an advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry, he is a UNICEF Good will Ambassador for Finland as well as being awarded the Outstanding Young Person of the World (Seoul, South Korea, 2006). He’s definitely not your run-of-the-mill heavy metal lead singer. And that’s not even getting into his Danzig-esque vocals that propel the riff-heavy sound.
