The experiment, week four. Can it still be called an experiment in its fourth week? Maybe. Anyway, I hope, you've been enjoying these video collections and have a thirst for more. This week continues my compiling of videos and various musical related tid-bits for your viewing pleasure. Some will be brand spanking new, while others will just be things that I like.
The majority of the videos will fall in the metal realm, as that is where my primary musical interests lie. Now, my tastes definitely extend beyond metal, but as I read on a forum once: "My tastes may have broadened as I have gotten older, but metal will always be my first love."
In any case, read on and enjoy!
Iced Earth - "I Walk Among You"
With longtime frontman Matt Barlow back with the band, Iced Earth is preparing part 2 of the Framing Armageddon saga, which was begun with Ripper Owens on vocals. To assist in the preparation for the apocalypse, Iced Earth has released a widget with a single from the forthcoming album (due this Fall). It is called "I Walk Among You" and the single will be released with a pair of other songs (iTunes gets a third track). These added tracks are new versions of songs from Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked Part 1. Much like what they did with Owens, re-recording the original "Something Wicked" trilogy, they have retracked these songs with Barlow supplying vocals. They sound pretty good, and it is great to have Barlow back where he belongs.
King's X - XV
I was introduced to King's X with their 1990 album Faith, Hope, Love. That was, and is, an excellent album filled with strong songwriting and excellent performances. Here we are, closing in on 20 years later, welcoming the latest addition to the band's discography. They have put out a widget with some samples and some full tracks, and I have to say, they sound pretty dang good.
