Music DVD Review: Mariah Carey – The Adventures of Mimi - Page 2

The biggest drawback of The Emancipation of Mimi is its perfection. The whole concert has an airbrushed, overly groomed quality to it. While Mariah Carey shows off her tremendous vocal talents, her stage presence lacks any real emotion. She doesn’t look like she’s working too hard. However, most Mariah Carey fans will be happy to see this nearly 90-minute concert of Mariah Carey singing her greatest hits.

The Adventures of Mimi also includes a behind the scenes documentary which consists mostly of posing and useless tidbits. “Lovers and Haters” is a piece directed by Spike Lee, in which Mariah responds to all her critics. The DVD also includes a jukebox function that is unnecessary for a concert DVD. Quite simply, fans of Mariah Carey should pick up The Adventures of Mimi for the concert, not the special features.

Move over Mariah and make way for Leona. Leona Lewis is being hailed as the next Mariah Carey. Like Mariah Leona has a powerful voice and powerful beauty, both inside and out. Leona's debut single is set for US release in mid-January and her debut album is set for US release in mid-March. In addition to her natural gifts, Leona is backed by Simon Cowell and Clive Davis, the record producer behind Whitney Houstan's career.

With so much going for her, Leona Lewis is expected to take the US by storm.

Leona Lewis please? she's good but not that let's be fsir here and compare the debut albums of both artist (not Mariah's 17 year career to leonas 1+) even at the same stage in their careers Mariah was way above Leona. I have both albums One is forgettable (spirit) and one makes an impact when listned to (Mariah Carey). Now back to the DVD was a good show but do admit it looks airbrushed.

    Shanghichica:

I think you are missing the point. There are lots of things similar between Mariah and Leona. Both are songwriters and co-wrote the tracks on their debut albums. Both have huge hit from their debut albums. Both combine striking physical beauty with a incredible vocal range. They have a similar singing style, though both are unique in their own ways.

You may not like Leona Lewis yet, but many, MANY do and she is here to stay.
