Music DVD Review: Decapitated, Nashville Pussy, Society1, Vision of Disorder, and Onslaught - Page 4

Part of: Marty's Musical Meltdown

Speaking of hardcore, this lot started out as a hardcore band but quickly evolved into a “proper” thrash band. They hail from the UK, Bristol to be exact, and are back, no doubt inspired by the new wave of British thrash, doing what they do best. In anticipation of their return, they have released this comprehensive DVD that tells their story and shows how good they really are. Onslaught, many argue, deserve to be mentioned with the some of the best known of the genre and on the basis of this release it's hard to argue.

With three hours of live gigs, including one in Bristol back in the late 80s, and interviews, no fan of the band can feel short-changed by this release. It’s a DVD/CD combo package that of their gig in Poland. Both the CD and the DVD have the same track listing which means that you don’t miss out if you miss either. Its good see a band not trying the “milking it” route and release them separately.

Some people might complain that several tracks, including the awesome “Demoniac,” feature in all the live recordings on here. However, as they are recorded at different times it does give you a clear indication of the evolution of the band as a playing unit.

Naturally, if you are a thrash fan then this should be on your wish-list. If you are a fan of the band you probably pre-ordered it. Metal fans wishing to see the best of the British variant of thrash metal might want to pick this up.

Well that is your DVD round-up for this time. In the next few days I will post some more CD reviews, but this should tide you over for a bit. As always rock hard, heavy and stay safe.
