This is 180 minutes of pleasure and pain for all those who like the band. There is a varied mix of material here on the two-sided DVD including there three videos “Nothing”, “All You Want”, and “Hate” as well as a behind the scenes on a photo shoot and the video for “Nothing”. There is a documentary called “One Way to Hell” ad a live set filmed during their tour stop in Tampa. Of course, there is a recording of their gig at The Key Club in LA from 2004.
On the flip side there is something called “Creation of Sound” with interviews with the entire band. This is addition to performance footage, backstage malarkey, a slide show, and lyrics to their tunes.
This is very much the comprehensive Society1 DVD. Love em’ or hate em’ you certainly can’t fault their efforts to give their fans value for money.
Vision of Disorder: Dead in New York
With all the bands combining hardcore and thrash you might wonder whence the movement came. Well this live testament to VoD is probably a good straight no-nonsense way to find out. Formed in 1992 and sporadically together and not together ever since. They are in a back together form now and plan to release a new album soon. This video of a live gig will no doubt whet the appetites of their fans in anticipation of new output. It's scheduled for summer or autumn of next year.
Unlike the rest of the DVDs mentioned here, this is not the fanciest or the most complete of releases. It's over an hour of music but that is really all you get. Their full gig of their most famous tracks playing to an adoring crowd in the heart of New York city. It’s the punk mentality captured on DVD.
To be honest this DIY punk thrashness is not really my scene but their hordes of devoted fans display the fact there are lots out there who love this stuff. I think for the price of a DVD you should probably get more than an hour worth of material, but what do I know.
Then again if you want to know where the oiks flogging metalcore got their inspiration you could far worse than take a gander at this lot. It's genuine, down and dirty with not an ounce of hype.
