Music DVD Review: Celtic Woman - A Christmas Celebration

If you're looking for the perfect Christmas gift for your music-loving friends, look no further than Celtic Woman's A Christmas Celebration DVD. This DVD features Celtic Woman — Chloe, Lisa, Meav, Orla, and Mairead — performing our favorite Christmas carols live from Dublin.

I had never heard of Celtic Woman before watching this DVD, but now that I've seen them perform and heard their voices, I'm having a really hard time trying to resist buying the rest of their work. These five incredibly talented women simply astound you with their passion, control, and vocal range.

It's such a joy watching them perform. Lisa is so sweet and expressive, Chloe is childlike and sexy at the same time, Meav is vulnerable but in control, Orla is passionate, and Mairead's energy is infectious. All of them with the exception of Mairead, who doesn't sing but is exceptionally skilled with the violin, have the most amazing voices. Celtic Woman blew me away with their powerful and controlled singing, both individually and as a group.

It's hard to say who I loved most, they were all equally amazing. But voice talent aside, I must say Lisa is my favorite because she is so expressive. Her voice is featured individually in "The Christmas Song" and "Green The Whole Year Round," and do I even need to say how wonderfully she performed? It should be obvious by now that these five talented women can do no wrong in my eyes - and ears, for that matter.

Chloe was featured individually in "Panis Angelicus." Meav in "The Wexford Carol" and "Silent Night," with Mairead on violin. Orla was featured in "Away In A Manger," and Mairead's violin talent is showcased in "In The Bleak Midwinter." Orla also plays the harp in "Don Oiche Ud I Mbeithil." Don't you just love multi-talented women?
