More rap violence

from: CMU

It seems that Suge Knight's notorious hiphop label is rarely far away from
violence and controversy. Early yesterday morning the label's offices on
Wilshire Blvd in LA were the target of a drive-by shooting. The good news is
no one was hurt, though it was a close thing - the office's security guard
told reporters that he had to duck to avoid the the seven shots that
shattered glass doors and windows.

Commenting on the shooting Suge Knight said: "We've got a lot of artists,
like Crooked I, Eastwood and Kurupt, that are currently working on new
albums. And because of the hype and media attention associated with these
two projects, there have been a lot of girls flocking to them at the studio
and at the clubs. The crime was probably committed by a jealous boyfriend or
a jealous husband."

The LAPD admitted they have next to no leads.

Marty, you're giving this "news" article more attention than it deserves. With all of the things happening in hip-hop music this week why fall into promoting the same cliches as the mainstream media. I'd rather hear about some corny wannabees than this.

this seems like almost irrelevant info, if any more stuff on rap music and violence could be posted, its would be appreciated. And a debate over the subject through posts would be even better i'd like to know what other people think on this subject

This information is alright, but if anyone could bring up a debate on if rap music causes violence I would be greatly appreciative.

rap music i think is to blame for a portion of violence on the street its a rap nation we are living in and if people would appreciate posotive lyrics more so than now the rap nation could turn into a hip hop nation and egt back to the roots of the music and not the glorification of violence seen in todays rap music

Rap music has nothing to do with violence there was violence before rap and there will be violence after rap is gone. I think people are just looking for an excuse because the parents dont know who to teach their children how to behave

For the most part, rap does NOT contribute directly to violence. But it does contribute to stupidity and ignorance (not all rap ... I understand). Stupidity and ignorance, in turn, can lead to violence as a way of dealing with life.

lets stop blaming rap music for these crimes and lets look at society. Think about it why do people committ robery, to get money why do people hustle to get money. its because of the messed up society we live in.

Rap Influences and pressures individuals of certain races and colors to act certain ways. its PEER PRESSURE. Rap does cause violence to a CERTAIN EXTENT. It causes it in certain ways because kids hear a hot rapper talking about "i sell drugs and pop a nine at you". so then a kid goes out and beat another kid up, sells some drugs and pops a nine so he can feel like that rapper and feel cool and thug. you guys are looking at the surface here. dig deeper. dumbasses

Rap is not a horrible thing, if it wasn't for rap, teenagers will have no outlet for their anger, they may turn to racism or violence. Life is wat makes teenagers lash out, rap provides an outlet.
I am a major rap fanatic, i listen to it religiously and i know whats right and wrong, killing someone or lashing out at them is wrong. Life provides stress and anxiety to teenagers, including myself, rap is my outlet, singing along with it helps me forget my troubles.
To ban rap or anything like that, will force teenagers like me, to take the hard road, the evil road. Rap is a bridge to freedom

Frankly, I would be much happier if the vioent gasta rap crap stayed in the States, where it belongs. We don't need that kind of trash here in Israel.

As I type this, I am working on a 15 page term paper for psychology. Visiting many sites and performing multitudes of experiments, I have noticed that listening to violent music increases the release of dopamine, which is often associated with rewards. In males, brain scans (CAT) showed increased brain activity in the pleasure center, as well as more function of the frontal and prefrontal lobes.

Put into English, Violent music is REWARDING for people to listen to.
My professor is going to go ballistic 

Rap is very violent. I've been doing a 12 page essay on how rap has a negative affect on pre-teens. During all of my research I have found nothing that says rap is not violent. Matter of fact the rappers themselves say that rap is violent. This just proves to people that rap is very violent and is bad. Rap isnt bad Completely though. It has its good sides to it also, just like eveything else.

you have to be kidding me!!!!
rock is not about cutting yourself!!! what song have u head that talks about that??? i mean really what song?
cuz all rap talks about is having sex with random black women and seeing how many hoes they can FU*K
ya since when is that cosidered expressing yourself? and ya i wouldnt really take that out on MY parents...wierdo
And if they arent talking about having some girl get LOW on them then its about violence and how they can beat up other rappers and jail and crap
no wounder BLACK people are so stereotypical toward this kinda stuff cuz asll rap artist are black (besides Eminem) so u r just bringing it apon yourself

    have fun!
