The Rolling Stones have scheduled a huge free event for 30 Jul in Toronto.
Toronto has suffered an economic downturn after the outbreak of SARS earlier
in the year, and the Stones concert aims to bring people back to the city.
A taped video message from the band for press conferences was shown ahead of the official announcement (due today) to several local media outlets over
the weekend.
Jagger says: "We're happy to tell you that we're coming to play on July 30 in a great concert for the people in the city of Toronto, to help bring back the energy to our favourite city."
It is estimated that 10 to 15 supporting acts will be announced.
The Stones show is the second music event aimed at helping repair the damage
to Toronto's reputation by the SARS virus ? an all star line up including Sum 41, Avril Lavigne and Barenaked Ladies performed their last weekend.

Steve of BNL noted this as well in the BNL blog. He also gives address of several organizations that are working to help out the laid off hospitality workers.
