Joss Stone to headline South African Live Earth
Joss Stone will be among the headliners of Live Earth at the concert in South Africa. Also scheduled to play in South Africa are UB40 and Angelique Kidjo as well as Baaba Maal. The concert in South Africa will be held at Cradle of Humankind in Maropeng, outside of Johannesburg. South Africa will be represented at the concert, to be held on July 7th, by the Soweto Gospel Choir, Danny K and singer/songwriter Vusi Mahlasela.
New Pornographers Announce Executive Edition, tour dates
The New Pornographers have announced a deluxe addition of their upcoming album. The "Executive Edition" of Challengers will contain the new release alongside a DVD, B-Sides and alternate takes in a boxed set. Challengers is set to be released on August 21st. The New Pornographers also announced a number of tour dates for September, including performances in Boise, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Portland.
Apple may offer iTunes rental service
Apple may be preparing to unveil a movie rental service from iTunes. Apple is said to be in advanced talks with film studios that will allow it to rent movies for $2.99 for 30 days. The agreement would allow the films to be transferred from a computer to at least one other device, such as in iPod. The studios have been wary of such a deal in the past because of its possible impact on DVD sales.
