Moore uses Dixie Chicks to convince Bush

He adds: "The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a sin. The Pope!
But even worse, the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war?

from marty: Well at least they still have one fan. I am sure Bush paused for thought at the fact one country bimbo slagged him off at a music awards show in another country.

Now I'm wondering about the etymology of the word "martinet".

I think Moore was being just a wee bit sarcastic. It wouldn't be the first time for him, you know.

The Dixie Chicks deserve scorn for doing a horrible cover version of a horrible Fleetwood Mac Song, and also because they kicked out the one chick on VH1 behind the music. But what they said was really nothing, it's not like they're diplomats or generals, they're freakin' (lame) pop singers. It's great that it got all the other rednecks upset. Aren't we still allowed to speak freely in this Country?

Hole is the only band that should be allowed to do Fleetwood Mac covers.

Or Santana ("Black Magic Woman"), Bob Welch covered himself pretty well on "Sentimental Lady"

The funny thing is on his Downsize This! book tour, Moore scolded the left for not listening to country music which he said is what working people listen to.

I forget if any of that made it into the Big One, his documentary on the book tour.

Eric, let's face it: Carlos Santana can do just about anything he wants, musically. He continues to amaze me.

Has Michael Moore ever worked a day in his life?
He has the luxury of being able to slam corporations.HE DOESNT FUCKING HAVE TO WORK FOR THEM! This "working class hero" act is bullshit.I also find it amusing he sees personal ownership of guns so threatening.Hate to tell him this-but cardivascular disease kills more Americans daily than guns ever have.Packing the pounds is self inflicted suicide. It also causes the rest of us "working Americans" to pay more for heath coverage because of the needs of the overindulgent. If Moore doesnt keel over before the end of the war,I'd like him to be the honored "welcome home" speaker at Ft.Campbell Kentucky.Hell-I'll even pay him!

The Smashing Pumpkins cover of Landslide (off Pisces Iscariot) is quite good.

Moore has worked his entire life. His politics are shaped by the fact that his father was an auto worker.

I forget all the jobs Moore had early on (he may have worked at a GM plant - I forget), but he started an alternative paper in Flint when he was very young and then was hired as the editor of Mother Jones and quickly fired.

He then went back to Flint and used the money he got from MoJo to help fund Roger & Me. When Warner Brothers bought Roger & Me, he included in the contract that some of the revenue would go to groups in Flint and the people who were shown being evicted in the film. He also set up his idiot grants (in contrast to the MacArthur genious grants) which gave out $10,000 to filmmakers and community groups.

Since then, he's made a bunch of films, TV Nation, The Awful Truth, and wrote several books.

Amazingly enough, writing and making films is hard work.
