Microsoft has announced a new service that will promote new music across its internet properties. The service called Ignition will expose new and emerging artists to internet users for a whole month by featuring exclusive content on sites such as Zune, XBox Live, and MSN. The service is starting with the band Maximo Park and will be offering the band's first single as a free download on Zune. Internet users will also find streaming content from the band on MSN and will be able to download the single's video for free from the XBox Live marketplace. In addition to this, Microsoft will be holding listening parties on MSN and will also be creating the band a website with other exclusive content on it.
Steve Jobs has confirmed that the iPhone will make its debut sometime in Late June. Jobs also confirmed that the iPhone will be running MAC OS X, however it will have a different user interface on the phone. For now Jobs says that the iPhone won't be open to third-party applications, but he hopes that in the future that will change.
Myspace.com Seeks Guidance About Predator E-mail
Myspace.com has filed a request with the Pennslyvania state court seeking guidance about legal ways for it to release e-mails from convicted sex offenders who have used the site. Myspace.com can not turn over the e-mails because federal law prohibits them from doing so without a search warrant. Myspace.com has said that it received a court order that it cannot legally comply with requesting the e-mails.
